does anyone here know what i might need as well as how much i would be looking at to have a d16 vtec head fitted to a d15b, as well as all the necessary setup to get the vtec working?
also, anyone know of any places that could do this in SA?

the d16y is a SOHC vtec, not twin cam.
i thought there was a twin cam d series?
there is but its not vtec. unless its a B series.
okay, know anything about the sohc vtec conversion?
Is the D15 carby or injected?
They call it a mini-me conversion, if you search on here and google there is lots of info around.
hang on, u got a d15b4 yea?!? bro, just bseries it man, since ur going carb to efi anywayz...
Not too sure for your D15b, perhaps the Y1 head is better for that but
a while back i was considering a 'mini-me conversion' on my D16Y4. A few it requires are
D16Y8 head (for my Y4) - $300 +
Vtec solenoid - $100 +
D16Y8 dizzy - $65 +
P28 ECU (OBD1 ECU; which requires a conversion harness) or P2P ECU (OBD2 ECU; from the Y8 motor, or another SOHC VTEC motor)
P28/ P2p ECU - $150 +
OBD1 Conversion harness - $180 +
*Possible* new timing belt - $ ?
That was my parts list, i think your car might be an OBD1, so you shouldn't need the conversion harness.
They are rough prices, from what i remember. I was considering this before, and after alot of thought, i decided not too. I'm planning on doing engine conversion instead, it might cost abit more, but B series are far better then D series; in my opinion. (B series = DOHC VTEC)
If you're still interested, you can PM fatboyz39 ; last time i checked he had a D16Y8 head + vtec solenoid for sale.
Edit : If thats right, i would go straight up B series without even thinking about mini-me
my car's a d15b dual carb sohc. hmm, if i remember right, there was a dohc carburettor zc motor?
hmm, if its costing roughly as much as 1996ek1 is saying, then it might be better if i just look towards a new car. my motor's barely hanging on as it is. i figured a dohc head would be relatively cheap for a small increase in response and torque, even without vtec. might end up being messy tho.
any places you guys would recommend for a head conversion anyway?
