Engine install B16B
Ok so I have sourced an engine for my car complete with engine (B16B), transmission, wiring, ecu, drive shafts, headers, etc.
I'm curious on any info/feed back from anyone on a choice (&size) for exhuast system, and if using the std Vti Radiator is a good idea.
Whilst Im there what else should I also look at in terms of maintence as it has made it to 200,000 after all

i would get a b18cr not much dearer and u wont regret it down the track
b16b is good but for roughly same amount of money ryan i would go the 1.8
exhaust 2.25 to 2.5
vti rad should hold up
i would change the timing belt and also gaskets if u can
just get the vrs kit and replace while motor is out
-
yeah what lan said.. try and replace as many of the seals as you can as well.. just saves having to take the motor/gearbox out again when its in the car to replace it..
-
all the gaskets seems a bit extreme, which ones have you done? who sells the vrs kit? the money is different by a good grand and for what Im using it for it will hardly matter
-
traders like jdm yard about 250
-
if I need to do the gasket, doin this swap wont be worth it lol, engine already is enough and damn well better be in good nick for what theyre worth otherwise will start looking at datsuns )sr20s) again lol
I havent ordered anything yet, I dont want to spend over 9k on this swap, if the estimate is over, it wont happen, waste of cash, may as well buy a turbo for the same coin

if its a half cut ryan its likely its been sitting in the back of some guys shed. this could mean the seels are shit and cracked... its something you need to do if you want the conversion to be as troubless as possible...
-
then I may not even bother then, rest of engine could easily be shit inside. this is just getting out of a realistic budget, have to see how it goes at the shop now. Cheers for your help guys :)

b18cr ftw.... do it. i am. its in japan atm so im playing the waiting game for hte next month or so... il pm u a good site hold on
-
so far in AUS for labour, supply with new exhaust from std headers and clutch its around 8800 so far..... thats as much as Im prepared to spend...
Nah, Im goin B16B something diff :)

pretty sure the vti rad, has a smaller opening than the b series one. I'd change that radiator.
Headers, i'd go 2.5" that a nice little revver you've got there
-
do it once do it right.
i know there's a budget involved.. but u want that money spent right..
not spend 8.8k on the dot.. and then having to change things like seals n gaskets down the track. which will end up costing u more anyways.
