b18C Type R heat related
hey guys...
quick question...
how hot do b18c itr engines tend to run?
i'm abit of a noob when it comes to honda specific engines and mines running noticably hotter than other engines i've played with.
i'm shifting at 3/3.5k rpm
if i vtec it at 5k it gets ALOT hotter
-
dont worry. give it hell. where does the needle sit if youre driving hard
-
temp gauge always sits just below the half way mark...
cept when i start driving it... takes around 5 mins n slowly builds up
-
on half or just below is normal from my experience with hondas.
when heating issues occure u'll def know........temp climbs fairly steadily to the end .
-
Doesn't sound right to me.
Standard Honda engines run very cool.
-
whats a 'standard' honda engine?
b18c jdm?
anyone with a type R wanna go for a cruise n touch their engine rocket cover n lemme know how hot she gets?
-
it should go up to half way and just sit there.
never have i seen my temp gauge go over the half way mark
-
-
yeah it goes up half way...
but i'm worried that the engine feels like it'd burn my hand if i leave it there... and that the temp gauge is reading it incorrectly?
-
Standard honda engine as in not boosted, and no aftermarket ECU and so on.
If your thermostat is fine, i'd agree with what faijai said.
-
BTW just touching your rocker cover won't help. You'll burn your hand before you can tell any temprature difference :)
-
my R runs even after a LONG DRIVE using vtec quite heavily around the start of the thermostat so very cool... never have i seen the engine temp go past the .25% mark on my thermo...
