SINISTR overheating on highways

hey guys,

What could be causing the car to heat up in water temperature at high speeds?

At normal road speeds temperature is spot on only when on a freeway/highway or track when the car runs at high speed for extended period of time it starts overheating... but then all it needs is a few seconds at slow speed and it returns back to normal...

Thermostat busted?

I had the radiator serviced couple years ago... i wouldn't suspect thats the issue and i bled the cooling system a couple weeks ago. Last issue i had like this was back in March when i went to the track - since then street driving hasn't shown the issue again...

Get that replace first then change the thermostat if required

if u did = new radiator and stick to one colour. =]

Blocked radiator is my bet, happened to my first car above 90kmh, mechanic told me it was 80% blocked.

I had it serviced 2 yrs ago... but i guess it will have to be checked out again...daymn!

Here wat i think, new thermostat is wat $20 or so, similar to wat u spend on lunch at work and takes 15min so swap, if its not that then u just got urself a brand new termostat, next step radiator. Has anyone ever tried on of those radiator flush things u cat in a can or bottle? try it out, might save urself some hassle

i'd say radiaotr and get a new thermostate while your at it for added piece of mind

I had the same issue a couple years back but i found out what it was shortly after. I was doing work on installing a new radiator and i wired up the fan the wrong way so it spun in the opposite direction so when there was enough wind force the fan and the wind would cancel each other out but it would only happen on highways/freeways when doing 90-100. I doubt your having the same problem but i thought i would put in my two cents. Outerwise get your garden hose and undo the top radiator tube and just give it a good flush for 5 mins and if you've already had a service on it two years ago then get a new thermostat.

Otherwise dude your welcome to borrow my stock radiator to try and resolve the problem. Your in perth hey.

id say its the radiator......
if your doing hwy driving and ure leaving it in a high gear with low revs it would def be it.
even if ure fans arent working hwy driving should still cool ure water temp down...
check the thermo aswell. go for something branded, sometimes a bit more reliable
