1999 Civic Coupe, 60,000km on the clock - on idle I am noticing a sort of ticking or tapping sound coming from the engine. At my last service at Honda, they recommended a timing belt change as the car is now over 5 years old. Although the mileage is still very low for the age, they still recommend the timing belt be changed due to the age factor. Anyway, I'm not sure if the tapping sound is due to that or not? What can cause this sound?
When I had my 180, I had that same problem. Turns out it was only a few loose bolts.
u either need a vavle adjustment or itz just your injectors. If itz injectors... then itz normal.
mate i know this may sound dodgey but my dad had the same problem on his chevy...turned out that his rocker assembly was loose at the back, causing the valves to sound 'sticky'...
just a thought
i'd say check to see if any of your valves are sticking...the way i would do this is:
-disconnect the main lead from your dizzy so when you turn the engine over it wont actually start
-take off ur rocker cover
-turn the engine over and see if any of your valves are sticking...

got a fellow civic coupe owner to listen to it and its jus normal engine noise
It can be injector noise, it's also possible it's your tappits (easy enough to adjust)
if your timing belt is due to be changed, change it, it'll be alot more expensive if it breaks.

yeh 'alpine' i can hear the same noise too when i start my car and it idles.. ticks like a clock.. :p had sum ppl hear it and they say it is normal but wat do others think?
i kinda have the same probs. but when i slightly hold the clutch down a bit... its gone...
whne was the last time you had the tappets done ?, there dealer is right you should change youe belt every 100 000km and 5 years, belts also age, rubber deteriorates over time.
