Anyone ever taken one of those breather boxes apart to see what's inside?
What's in there?
its pretty much a baffled box with a one way valve leading to the intake manifold
yeah. Lots of ppl rip them out. Im going to then I get either a short ramp or CAI intake. I guess it would unrestrict the air flow beter..
Im pretty sure hes talking about the pcv breather box.
Yeah i mean the black metal box on the side of the motor under the intake manifold.
How much pressure is needed to open the pcv valve?
guys , unless you are dealing with serious NA or boosted applications - please leave the standard PCV system well ALONE.
What if ur ripping all the standard intake out for a Injen CIA or somthing similar ?
Sorry dude i think u got the wrong idea about wat were talking about, anyway about the intake filter box you can remove that if you like to replace it with a CAI or metal pipe and filter. just remember to mount it in place firmly.
In regards the the Black pcv breather box, yes leave it well alone unless your changing to an after market breather system which should include all the parts needed to replace, also if you are removing it for one reason or another remember to pre-lubricate the rubber o-ring that slips into the block as it is very easy to tear resulting in oil dripping onto your hot exhaust and plowing out with smoke, also remember to install the bolt again. If cleaning simply remove, spray the inside with degreaser, let it dry then re-install.
(do not attempt to open the box as it will result in damage of the unit)
Hope this helps ;)
