spoon engine?
hey guys sorry for the noob question but just saw this ad:
http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/...d=11F585A791F0
and was just wondering what a spoon engine was? and what do you guys think of the car? how come it's so cheap?(i searched google and found that spoon was some kind of car tuning company? which makes it even more confusing because if a spoon engine is tuned to be better than the stock dc2r engine then why soo cheap?) i don't quite understand why you'd be in a rush to sell if you lost your licence?
cheers.

anyone can paint a cover yellow, use a permanent market and do a signature of theirs and brand it spoon engine. dont buy it if you're in doubt. simple.
Spoon to Honda is like... HSV is for Holden.
-
Spoon engine is a High compression/ Redline/Output Vtec motor, pretty rare and expensive.
Make sure he hasnt just changed the rocker cover lol.
Why would he be in a rush to sell cause he lost his licence> dude theres heaps of reasons
Get rip of the car so he cant be tempted to drive it, lose money on the rego while its sitting there..etc...
-
how much do you think a dc2r is worth???
ask him whether it is the whole engine that he has changed to spoon or is it just the cover. The guy might not know the difference.
The car doesn't really look to be well maintained by the look of it. Hence the cheap price

Spoon engines don't have engine numbers on them.
Just B18C, B16B etc.
They buy fresh brand new from Honda Japan.
-
Looks like trent's old spoon crate motor. Or at least the valve cover does.
-
its a real rocker cover telling by the pic only
spoon have a 8 digit serial stamp on there heads
most spoon engs have only b18c/b16a/b16b on the block
in some cases motors are original and have original no as they have been rebuilt to owners specs
spoon.co.jp shows you a example of one of their motors

Really, for a few more killowatts and a few more revs, would you go through the hasle.
16K for a type r is decent anyway.
Spoon or no spoon. Its only still just an integra.

im 90% positive, the car used to belong to anthony. with the hektik c16 eating turbo b18c..
he then sold the turbo setup to mr kwazivietnamese. kwazivietnamese purchased trents old dc2r. with the spoon motor. used the turbo kit on it. then sold the turbo kit to someone..
the spoon motor was then taken out and swapped for a stock dc2r motor. as for wherever that spoon motor went, im not sure..
but that should be some bit of information. perhaps ask jase who he sold his spoon motor to
that dc2r with AXS.XXX numberplate was a high achiever in my books when anthony owned it
hope its the same one lol

such along history for a year 2000 car..
-
long ? no way. its a nine year old car.

Someone would go to all the effort of putting a Spoon engine in their dc2r, keep the stock intake/exhaust and only stick a power fc in there? Sounds odd to me. That engine would have so much potential.
