Melted ECU/Computer
Hi Guys,
I was driving home last night in my 1993 Honda Integra VTi-R, and everything was smooth in the car until it started to choke like it was out of fuel. I found out that in the fuse box in the engine bay the fuse number 15 was blown. I replaced it with a spare but the engine would not turn on it would just keep turning over. There was also a very bad smell inside the car but ALL electrics work fine.
The mechanic has said today that the ECU/Computer has melted.
Does anybody know why this has happened? Is it a common thing to happen. Like it just "happened" to go. Or is there somthing causeing this and if i replace the ecu it could happen again?
The mechanic said all elecctrics and fuel pump are fine??
What could this be?
And how much am i looking at for a new ecu??
Thanks for all your help.

never heard of this before....unless your ecu has taken a huge short IE power applied directly to the chassis or ECU itself. This CAN happen if you try to jump start your car with starter cables , for example.
Try to find a known good ECU for your car , see if it fixes the issue and work from there.

Just post it on the WTB thread.
or call up some wreckers like honbits?
im guessin between $100-150 ?
Just stick to ur s14 roh ... ditch the integra !

Have you got a RSM or VAFC fitted?
I had a similar issue with my old EG, one of the boards was damaged as a result of the case touching some bits inside. This as a while back and I couldn't find a VTI manual ecu, so I had it fixed.

Honda Parts (better load the trailer up with cash first though)
Wreckers up here charge $160 for ECU's.
