EK1: Rev Limiter Q

Hey guys,

Would it be a stupid question to inquire about removing the rev limiter in my car? or changing if possible

cos when i have fun zipping around, i always look at my tacho when shifting.
since the rev limiter is there, its confusing since normally you shift right before red line.

or can you possibly tune the ecu and push the rev limiter to kick in a few hundred revs later?

my rev limiter kicks in well before the red line, like its noticeable

(97 EK1 GLi) woops - changed, thought i had ek4 lol

probs cause its a GLi... get a bseries and rev to 8300 like us lol

how do u get a ek4 gli btw...
b16a in ur gli or ek4 with a Dseries in it?

only know some basic level stuff here and there

oh i thought i had an ek4, my mistake its an ek1.... i get confused since theres too many ek1, 4, 9?

well your cars not a ek4 its a ek1
reason its not revving out as much is because its a single overhead cam i dont know whether that model has vtec or not
im assuming it doesnt so they dont rev out like the DOHC VTEC models.

removing ur rev limiter or raising it wont find you more power instead it could misfire and detroy itself
or starve itself of oil or fuel or break a belt...


EK1 = hatch or sedan - gli cxi - SOHC notec

EK4 = hatch - VTi-R - B16A2 B16A DOHC VTEC

EK9 = hatch - typeR - B16B DOHC VTEC

i keep reading about vtec on this site its really making me jealous! lol

thats why i had to get sumthing with more poke, i had a VTi-S accord CD5 thats single overhead vtec just not good enough lol

D-series doesn't really rev that hard unless you get a cam and ecu/tune IMO.

My D16Y1 redlines at 7200 I think, and it sure takes forever to get there LOL. Get a B16A into it and have fun rev'ing to 8000+ :D

im confident this daily runner will last the years until i finish uni and get a job

i had such annoying experiences searching for second hand cars and such i dont think its worth all the trouble.
some pple say it costs more to buy a second hand car than a brand new one cause of all the extra maintenance you have to do..

d15 revs hard ;) just gota rep lol

oo yeah and just keep driving dude, evantually you will know your car and gears, then you will deffs know when and how to shift proper, though flat shifts are my fav still
