DIY: DC2 Radio removal

Aim: remove radio from a DC2 Intergra.
Required: philips head screw driver, flat head screw driver,
step 1
undo the 2 x screws at the back of the center consol, one either side

Step 2

using a flat head screw driver gently lift the cover

Step 3
undo the two screws

Step 4
Lift the handbrake lever and lift out the center console, Remove the ash tray and Undo the two screws shown below one either side. remove the gearshift knob , turn anti clockwise

Step 5

Undo the two screws shown below.

Step 6

remove the ashtray assembly, and undo the wiring harness holding it on ( see
blue arrow ) then remove the two scews ( green arrows )

Step 7

pull out console.

Step 8

undo the radio screws under the back of the radio

pull the radio out, replace with new one and reinstall in revers order.

happy stereo removal :)

wow, i had mine taken out professionally and didnt even know how they did it....now i no

(btw: some usful info- stock components as per my car was
-head unit made by kenwood, stock 6" 2-ways by pioneer,
and stacker by alpine) not bad for a stock system i say.

some times on some Hondas, you can reach behind the dash and undo the bolts in the last photo, but its very fidly and tends to hurt your hands, ends up being quicker to do it my way even though there is more work involved, and its the way the workshop manual recommends :)

hey, in my car i can just put the radio console out....is this not normal?
as well as the lil space below it.

nah its not normal its ment to be bolted in :)

would a double din fit in?
would you have to buy any extra's to get it in?

i did mine without removing the center concole. just took off the ash tray and went from there. but that was just changing my after market head unit. later i had to go through all the steps posted by ECU-MAN too hide my cables when getting proper speakers for the car.

you would need to buy a frame to mount the double din. DC2's unfortunately do not come with the casing to fit on any after market head units unlike many other cars. so even when you change your OEM head unit you would need that frame put in to hold your head unit properly.

i did this recently. reinstalling is a little more different - as there are no brackets to hold the aftermarekt radio unit up. u have to create a 'tab' / bracket from the back of the headunit to sit across the support bar on the dash to keep it propped up.
