hey guys, i was just thinking of trading in my 96 Gli for a 95 Vti. The Vti costs $9990. Alternatively, i was thinking of dropping a Vtec into my car, but I'm not sure as to the length of trouble, as well as costs and legalities of such a practice are. If anyone could provide any advice, or even offer any other advise of other cars to get (under 10 grand, Im a student), it would be very helpful.

if you want go the Si, will flog a VTi any day mate...:)
EDIT: and wont cost you as much...about $8-9000
i wouldnt pay more then 7k for a Si sedan. they are becomming quite dated now, nothing like the quality of the VTi
Why ohh why do the Si owners always say that ??? I never EVER had a ZC-powered EG (or CRX) beat my SOHC VTEC D16Y1. the DOHC ZC did always beat me JUST untill I hit VTEC then bye bye ZC.Quote:

i second that bede, although in opposite, i have never been beaten by a vti eg or ek in my stock as Si. vtec or no vtec ownage from the start but thats just my expericence.
i would have to say it all comes down to the driver dude. when considering performance of either model. what on paper is faster?

vtis are good IMO, the fact that u get a sunroof is bitchin but Si's ARE rarer and are also lovely lil machine, nothing wrong with the vti tho.:)
im sellin my Si with a few mods and 140 000ks for about 10K.
hmm very interesting Trav.. the only non DOHC VTEC civic that ever beat me when I had the SOHC VTEC was another SOHC VTEC VTi :) what's your best 1/4 mile pass ? mine was 15.61".
Personally for race/track use, the Si is better off NOT having the moon roof as it adds weight (up high) and also reduces chassis rigidity marginally.
The VTi also has front and rear stabiliser bars which the Si doesnt.
if you want to swap to B16/B18 etc, VTi is sligthly better for wiring.. but yeah on paper, they are both "96KW" with the Si being rated by Honda at 124HP and the VTi being rated at 125HP.
VTi also has slightly shorter ratios than Si..
mugeneration >> Are you going from 96 GLi to a 95 VTi ? that means going from EK to EG (gen6 to gen5) civic.. the EK VTi wasnt available till 96/97 I think.
Mugeneration, what is it about the EK Gli that you dont like compared to the EG Vti ?
eg vti has better interior, seats, materials, sunroof, engine, brakes, swaybars just to highlight a few area's.
mmm ok - all of those are standard in the EK - VTiR, but im guessing finding one within that price range isnt goin to happen :oQuote:

mugeneration...do you want an ek or eg? i guess thats one important question...i know you say '95 but do you still want the same body shape in the VTi?
