Bought New Wheels - Need some Q's answered

I haven't been on here for abit. But now I am back!

I was planing to sell the S but thought to keep it and just spend sme dosh on it from time to time starting with the wheels.

So I have a few q's in relation to some wheels that I have bought.

I need to find someone in Sydney who is good at guard rolling, anyone know of anyone?!?

The specs r as follows.

17x8 +35
17x9 +45

I have been reading up on this fitment and it sounds like it's OK to fit. Has anyone else tried the same offsets? I am curious to find out and to even see some pics.

Search for Sydney guard rolling, he did both my cars, and he comes to you. Alternative is Dedy at top one in arncliffe.

I used to run 17x9+44 at the rears on a 245 40 re001 and 2.5degrees camber, it used to clear fine without roll, your fronts would need rolling so you don't clip your guards.

+45 is quite easy to clear so it depends on your tyre brand + size because you might not even need a roll.

So 45+ will fit up rear without issue. That's good. You mentioned that particular tyres will suit better so is the RE001 a good tyre to use for my setup? I am planning to go to Taleb tyres and get a set from there.

Shipping wheels from the usa is quite pricey :( but if it works out cheaper then getting it here why nots!

Well it depends on what tyres you want etc.

Different tyres have different sidewall sizes, for example the Toyo t1r has thinner sidewalls and a 245/40 will clear alot easier then a 245 40 advan Ad08, generally the uhpt have pretty thick sidewalls compared to ur regular street tyres. Also if your looking at running thinner tyres for the stretch look diffrent tyres stretch differently too.

Honestly I would recommend you just Roll your guards because you have to roll the fronts anyway, roll em so you can run a full size tyre all round 225/45 and 255/40, while your at it import some tyres from the USA something like the Dunlop Z1 ends up being about 1k landed and it's alot cheaper then tyres overhere.

Sweet. Thanks Yvets. It got a good deal on the wheels but yeah, postage killed it. Still got what I wanted and minus the 10 week wait. The wheels are practically brand new.

OK. Looks like my plan of attack here will b to roll the guards, get the tires and install. :)

Luders, so this setup works for u well! Ur S sits pretty low so without rolling the guards do you get any sort of scrubbage when driving hard? What about tyres? What r u running mate?

I rolled my guards, rears only to start with.
Paid the price with a munched front fender.
So I then had the fronts rolled too.

I run a 225/40/18 up front and 245/35/18 rear. Looking back on it, you can easily fit a 255/35 back there instead of a 245/35.

You won't scrub unless you excessively lower it. The only reason I scrub is because I'm less than 1" off the ground and I haven't relocated my rear bumper tabs (this weekend hopefully).

get the khumo ku36's delivered cheap from option 1 garage, i put them on my car and they are so f***ing awesome.. especially compared to the re001's, at the mountain run i could corner much harder without losing grip while the re's were losing grip if pushed to hard.( both s2000's )

Ludecrs - That stance lOOks tuff. Can't wait to get my wheels now! I'll trylooking into the 255 rear option! It would look PHAT!

Engin09 - Thanks, I'll have a look imnto this aswell. How is the KU36 compound? It must be a notch softer than the Re001's to grip so well. My S is a daily so I need a bit of a compromise between performance and longlasting. Especially if I set the rears into a slightly more agressive camber setting, I assume it will be about -2.5 on the rears.

KU36 = cheap and high performance but doesn't last long
RE001 more expensive, less performance, last longer.

2.5 degrees isn't really aggressive and your tyres should wear normally if you have 0 toe.
