hey guys,
ive just started building my b20 vtec, im using my p72 head from my b18c2 just ported and oversized valves. The car is meant to be a quick street/track car. I was wondering, is it not advisable to run oversized valved with the m22x cams and are they suitable for street use. If theyre not suitable my next pick would be toda cs.

anything is suitable for street.
drivability for street is pretty rough. i had toda c's and they were pretty full on aswell.
all depends on how you want your drivability. stopping at each lights or in traffic and your car idling like a monster with your idle just up and down up and down might do your head in.
:) and with the m22x its not much drivability but if your going to go build a car why not go all out ....
ive got skunk2 stage 3 in my k block. and its pretty rough. haha
if you go for bigger tb and im then expect the car to be louder.and drivability after getting a 68+mm tb for the car to idle like a gangster monster.

Std valves & nearish to std intake port sizes will allow larger cams to be used with a broad & solid power band.
Heads that have ports that are too big with oversize valve respond to use of shorter duration cams, high lift cams.

what motor is it and what kind of power are you pulling from them man?
M22x cams suits street driving. As what Toda AU said, keep the valve size factory. How much comp is your b20?
when getting the head serviced, is there anything to mention to the person servicing the head?
i heard something about 3 degree angle valve cut, does that make it seat better or something? thanks
It's in a B20vtec doing 130kw atw. Using standard pistons. If I increase the comp to 11.5 I'd be doing a lot more power.Quote:

Best head shops will do the job with a Newen or Serdi with all seats exactly the same, in width & height.
Other shops still use stones, not that this is bad as this can still be a very good job but it relies more on the skill of the machininst.
If your head is going to be media blasted, be sure to remove all grub screws & clean thoroughly no matter what.
