Which spoiler to buy

[SIZE="2"]Which rear deck spoiler is best for the 8th gen Civic sedan - the Modulo full-sized one, or the Modulo boot-lip jobbie?

By 'best' I mean the most efficient and effective (or is there no difference?).Another consideration is actually seeing where the end of the boot lid is.

I've read that the full-size Modulo creates drag, thus affecting the vehicle's performance. Another thought was that this created drag (which pushes the car's bum down) improves "laminar flow", which helps the car cut through the air better. But hey, I find that with its high gearing and good streamlining, my Civic is slow to lose speed, on the over-run, and it's essential to keep an eye on the speedo.

Unless you are going to track your car, you shouldn't really look into the aerodynamics of the wing, and should just purely focus on the aesthetics.

uve got a 40th aniversary civic with an r18a engine. adding a spoiler to ur car will not make any difference to ur performance at all... but they may look nice (if u like spoilers).
have u got any pics of the spoilers btw? im not sure which ones u are talkin about.

yeah.. not a fan of the modulo spoiler. much rather the ducktail.

have u ever thought of the mugen or type r spoilers? bit over-the-top for me but u may also like those

it really just comes down to which of the two spoilers you prefer.

i got a generic M3 style ducktail spoiler from ebay and im very happy with it. looks the goods and i didnt pay premium.

If spoilers are more for show than go, I'll go for the ducktail. The Mugen is a bit "young" for me, being an oldie. Our 1991 hatch came with a graphic filling in that large expanse of metal behind the driver's door and every time I drove it to work (had to prise it away from my wife), the guys kept asking what my grandkid was doing for a car that day. Gulp!

Yeah, I have seen those generic spoilers on the internet, and they are cheap to buy, landed here for about $40. As a rough guess, on the car for under $200, painted and fitted? Certainly worth a look.

ive also got myself a m3 style ducktail. it came already painted and was easy to install. cost me about $50 including postage because a couple of friends and i ordered about 4 or 5 of them from the same person.

@Stig - yeah. some angles and lighting will make the kit look a different shade. but its matches well when u look at it irl

aero the ducktail looks a bit small compared to the rear lip IMO.

Noel, the mugen/type R wings are definitely a young looking, and if you aren't young at heart, you'd probably feel like a bit of a knob.
For you i think it's gotta be one of the ones available from the dealership - moduolo or ducktail. I don't think either of them looks particularly bad.

Oh and in response to the OP,

minimal performance gain, given that it's a front wheel drive car, and minimial drag created at road-legal speeds.
