Fuel pump humming

My fuel pump has started making a really weird humming/vibrating sound, ive determined its the pump cos its coming from the boot area. Before when i turned the ignition to "power" the pump would make the usual noise for 5 seconds but now when i turn the ignition it makes the same noise but its a really loud hum, its definetely not normal, and even when the engine is on you can hear it humming away its so annoying.. my cars a 94 accord auto with 250,000ks, it still starts and accelerates smooth... is the pump on its way out? has anyone else got this problem?

Well the fuel pump completely failed today as i was driving.... so there you go, if your pump is humming, youve got a few days to do something about it.. now the cars just sitting on the side of the road, fkn hell
