running car till im out of petrol?

Hey guys My cars been getting bad mileage since i bought it, 350-400km out of a tank but i fill up when the fuel indicator goes on. Ive herd form some people that the indicator on some cars go on premeturely and by running the car till its empty the fuel meter will reset?

I dont plan on doing this more than once, but i think its worth a shot incase my car can actualy make 500+ km out of a tank.
i have a full 10 littre jerry can in the back for when i do run out but my question is will this cause any serious problems for my car, i know its not good but can it be done once at least or is this just stupid ><

will vapourize cause condensation which means moisture into left over fuel into your fuel system, water doesnt' have lubricants like oil does,,, petrol is a form of oil

moisture into fuel system will destroy seals, injectors, fuel filters, and longlivity on your motor

Just throwing an alternative solution out there.
find out what capacity your tank is, when your fuel indicator comes on fill up and note how many litres it takes.
That way you know how many litres you have left when the light is coming on.

Carsales.com says the tank is 65 litters and i generaly fill 50 so roughly 15litters left in the tank then... when should the indicator come on normaly?

i wouldnt recommened it

Yes and yes. I also run a shitty piggyback (vafc2) and when it was tuned the bloke said the fuelling was spot on... but judging form what i figured pout before i have another 15 litters left in my tank which should mean id get around or over 500 km per tank which is decent....
now i just want to know how to reset the fuel gauge and when it is normally supposed to come on

yer i figured... butt if their is another 15 litters in my tank u know... maybe id be getting a bit better.

Anyone own a 03-04 euro and know roughly when the low fuel light comes on?

mind u back in the days in my is200 when the light pops up, i'll still have 20l left in the tank so i think its kinda normal? my is200 has a 70l tank

wowww thats ridiculous man.... nah id liek the light to pop on when im at 60 litters and have the last 5 to play with to get to a servo or sumthing... but if its poping up at around 50 litters in im gettin cut 15 and gona be worrying about when its gona run out
