the parts are interchangeable - they are basically the same engine - many people have bought parts from the USDM D16z6 that fit onto the D16y1
are they the same? i doubt it - i would say that there are very slight differences to warrant a different name of the engine
so far from the research that others and myself have done - we are hard pressed to come up with any differences between the two engines
the only way to know for sure is to import a D16z6 and put it in a garage with a D16y1 and tare them both down to compare - so far (as far as we know), nobody has done this
Thanks buddy I'm looking to replace my piston rods and bearing so I guess I can approve myself to buy it online =] ta
They are close to exactly the same motor and most if not all internal parts are interchangeable.
Some differences on the outside from memory, long time since I researched the two motors..
AUS D16Y1 is slightly more powerful with a tad higher Compression

its probably slightly different tuning because we have better quality fuel in australia
anyone know what the best HG is to use on a D16y1 for compression?
most reliable with best gain?
do you know what the part number for it is?
they have actually changed all the D16 head gasket part numbers and models around
its hard to figure it out these days =/
