so i just put new shoes on my jazz. speedline 16s 205/50 all around. i used a hand wrench and tightened them as hard as i could with the oem lug nuts for now and also forced myself on the wrench just incase lol. would this be tight enough for the rims?
im pretty concerned if its not.. but i drove up and down the street and it seemed okay.. couldnt hear anything except for this 1 clunk when reversing only but i think it could have been the exhaust? not sure.
Uhh... i used to stand on the wrench to tighten lol, youll have problems getting the nuts off! its probably not TOO tight as to wreck the tread but its not gonna come out
In most cases it should be fine, you can over tighten it as well using hand not only using impact gun.
If you are that concern, you could get a torque wrench. Hand tighten will always be fine if done properly and it is the preferred method over impact gun especially if you have "weak" lug nuts.

btw do i need to get my wheels aligned now? is it important?
If the overall rolling diameter is the same or close to then no it's not important. Try driving on the freeway at 100ks. If you experience some bad shaking then go get balanced/aligned.

Don't stand on them to tighten. Just use hand and make sure they are tight. Theres no need to over tighten. Just remember you'll need to undo it again, especially if you have a flat and you need to get them off.
also out of interest did your original rims have conical shaped nuts or domed ones?
Was just going to say the same thing. Your nuts and wheel surfaces need to mate together properly so make sure you're using the right nut.
