THis may sound like a noob question hence it being it here but will heat affect our cars performance due to the CAI taking in more hot air than cold? I have a aftermarket pod air filter sitting on top of the stock air box so if that is partially the cause of it. Im just curious because when i started up my car around mid day it was soo slow and already felt slow before lol.

While im on topic of power It just annoys my when dad's mazda 2 (i know its a 10 years newer than my car but still...) feels faster than my ek1 =/ It same weight but i don't get how a 1.5 dohc 77kw wins a 88kw 1.6 sohc. Does vvt make that much of difference?

Nope, vtec isn't a fancy term for vvt. Totally different.
Vtec changes the lift of the valves.
Vvt is variable valve timing. Changes when the valves open.
I thought they were similar though? I thought once vtec activates it opens another valves as well? Correct if im wrong as i'm not that familiar with the actual operation of vtec
Yes.. you will notice slightly less power due to heat soak.
Drive your car in the afternoon or at night and it will feel responsive again lol.

and its more worse when you have aircon on as well
