Sound deadening?

Thinking of sound proofing my car a bit but on a budget. i was thinking of using the paint on sound proof stuff and some flashtac on the doors but i don't know what i should use on the floor of the car. I heard that another layer of carpet can sound proof the car abit or is it better to just slap on some of the paint on sound proof stuff as well?

Dynamat the doors and cover the service holes with mdf and seal them.

it depends what exactly you are sound proofing for... are you doing it to reduce resonation for a sound system? or just in general trying to reduce the amount of NVH in the cabin?

THe spray on stuff is OK, but a compromise, DYnamat is the best kind of product to use... just remember that whatever you do here is adding weight to your car...

I am trying to do both. I know it adds weight to the car but it something i can live with as it my daily.

like stated, dynamat can be used if you're really serious about getting rid of any excess sound coming from/into the car e.g road noise, system noise like zilli said.

There is a post i saw in the DIY thread a while back that someone posted about soundproofing the doors just by using thick duct tape to cover up any holes in the steel frame, this will cause greater bass if you have aftermarket or even stock speakers in the doors, although it can potentially block some sound.. to a certain degree..

you could even use some foam from clarkerubber, ask for subwoofer lining and sound proofing.

Dynamat is more so used to stop panel vibration etc rather than block external noises. If you refer to trisms post that i linked he explains how to use dynapad to reduce road noise ect. Your floor should already have deadening from the factory so adding dynapad rather than dynamat would be a better option as you can only use so much dynamat on a panel untill you get diminishing returns.

With regards to the doors the outer skin should be coated in dynamat, then the service holes filled with mdf cutouts and sealed, then coat with dynamat and you have a sealed enclosure like so

You can also put dynaxorb or some sort of eggshell foam behind the driver as trism mentioned in the other thread.
