what is apexi vtec controller
A waste of money
A piece of rubbish that shifts the vtec point, that Honda designed so well :)
Heaps of threads on vtec controllers though, do a search but IMO I wouldn't bother with a vtec controller
Control when vtec engages lol
If he's talking about the VAFC then it also controls the air flow and fuel mixture. My car came with one already in it. I've never touched it, but it's mounted in such a good place so I never took it out haha.

I gained 10kw in the mid range and 5kw at 7000rpm.
Vtec cross over is now 4200 instead of 4900.
The apexi AFC neo is good value for money... It does the job if you have bolt on mods.
so if you buy aftermarket camshafts and adjustable cam gears and you dial in your camshaft and adjust your cam gears to 0.0 accordingly and you dyno the car to find that the extra duration on the small lobe has increased your mid range and you can achieve a better torque curve by engauging vtec at a higher rpm by means of a vtec controller or a vafc without goin to the expense of a stand alone think the mod not just fit it
IMO these things are pretty decent.
if you have a very economical engine and wish to suck the HP out, after changing ur air intake and exhaust, then you get one of these and a tune you can squeeze those bits out by running a richer mixture (closer to stoich). rather then getting a hole new ECU.
More things come into the equation of making power besides correct mixtures. E.g. timing advance cam angles. On a k20a. Plus good luck detecting those knocks. Why waste money on a half arsed approach ? When you can get an ecu and do everything at once?
its benefitial for ppl who dont want to go ALL out. a new ECU i imagine is pretty expensive and a apexi VAFC is like 300$ relatively nothing in comparison.
but agreed the ECU would be better.
slightly beneficial but a mistake if you ever decide to go further
