like the title states, shouldnt the car compensate for it? mine doesnt when i turn headlights and or step on brakes or use switches or ac. i know its an electrical or maybe ecu not sure. just dont know where to start and how to check. alternator maybe?
No it wont. It shouldnt have to.
It should when you turn A/C on, because thats driven directly off the motor.
If your idle is dropping noticeably when all youre doing is headlights on, or brake pedal, then you need to check and see if the alternator is still sweet.
Go down to any auto shop, and get yourself a multimeter, and then put measure the voltage across the battery terminals while the car is running.
If its any less than about 13.5volts, good chance the problem lies within the alternator.
some cars have it, its called eld.
i know k series (dc5/cl9 etc) have this eld in ecu but olders cars dont have it
i think eg/dc/ek etc dont have it so its disabled when say one does a kswap in eg/dc/ek
The ecu is targetting a certain idle value (example: 750rpm) and if the idle falls the ecu should adjust the idle air valve to compensate to try and maintain the target idle.
Maaaark, have you resolved the other idling issues that you mentioned in another thread?
you need to ensure that
- ignition distributor timing is set correctly
- throttle body plate and air screw are properly adjusted
- tps properly adjusted
- idle air valve and ports are clean and clear. Especially the port/passage way that runs through the throttle body.
all JDM models have ELD.. Australian dont untill K-series generations.
