Hey guys,
so i have recently thought of doing an engine and transmission conversion with my FD1, however it is an automatic R18a :o ... I'm thinking of K24a, anyone done something similar to this or know if it is worth doing?
Let me know what you guys think !
i'd buy a civic sport and swap that. that way you haev the FD2 chassis which is more capable of taking the kseries
You can use the fd1 chassis to begin with. You will need to get a fd2 subframe, fd2 mounts and a few other things but it can be done. Just depends on how much money you have. I would expect to charge between 10-15k if someone came thru the shop and wanted to swap
just buy a new car mate
You will need certificate to say it is fine which may be hard to get.
And is the FD1 even capable of having the K24 installed in its engine bay which is made to fit the R18 with some room to spare?
Fd1 engine bay is no different to the fd2 engine bay.
Also because the chassis came out with a k series in it from factory as a higher trim level, it will be easier to get engineered
I am thinking about the sheer size of the 2.4 V6.
Not to mention weight.
Cars weight distribution will be way different.
More weight on the front on a FF may be a good thing though.

Nah mate the k24 v6 u-vtec (ultra series) engine is unique to the RWD fd1. Its the fastest car over the speed bumps at your local KFC carpark.
