alarms which is the best?

im looking into getting an alarm for my car, i have been to a few places and there are so many alarm brands out there i dont know which one to choose, ill be looking at spending around the $400-$500 mark installed, can anyone tell me which are the leading brands in alarms?

Vipers are pretty reliable..

Have a look at Black Widow or Rhino, I've had one of each in my cars and have to say that they are both very good value, very reliable and packed with features. For you're price range, you'll probably be able to get the top of the line one with three or four points of immobilisation, 2 stage shock sensor, remote central locking and probably interior sensors and maybe even auto window winders..
What sort of car is it for?

i personally would say Smith & Wesson. all the rest take time to install, like 3-4hrs to install. Smith & Wesson only take seconds to install and go off :D

Topbrands of alarms are LASERLINE now used by Honda though optional but can be expensive depending wat range and AUTOWATCH 160Blue which is being used in my car very good alarm and sensors, if bumped or loud muffler goes pass the alarm goes off can be annoying but better be safe then sorry.

D.E.I. (directed electronics incorperated) makes Viper, clifford, rattler, boa, ect. The best system on the market for the last 3-4 years has been the viper 791.

What I do to protect my Honda is adjust the drivers seat as far foward as it can, then I tilt the seat so that the headrest hits the steering wheel & once this is done, I pull off the levers so that the seat cant be adjusted without them........ Hence if a thief gets into my car, cant adjust the seat, cant get into the seat therefore cant drive away hahahahhahahahhaahhaa by the way, this situation is all imaginery!

i personally like the black widow systems but i cant rally compare as i have only had this and a rhino...

for your price range i am definately sure you can get a top of the line one with plenty of features...

as to the rhino i had... i have heard of functions being disabled and the alarm going nutz (experienced it myself).. i asked a electrician who often installs them and he says that there was a batch of rhino GTRs who had to be recalled due to faults... not sayin they arent reliable though

I had this Pirahna immobiliser that came with the car. I remember I could lock and unlock the doors 100 meters away in carparks; even further away on a flat ground.

Flashpoint are good too.
