i've got a lcd/dvd unit in my car
i was told that it is a defect if it's up even just showing the tracks.
but then i was also told that it's okay, as long as it's not, playing a movie/games.
can anyone clarify this for me?

U can only have the TV running Video while the car is stantionary. If the car is moving no picture is allow. Meaning that the unit can only operate while the handbrake is up...
yeah but when it's just the track listing, is that a defect?
becuase when i have just the track listing, there are no pictures? it's just a blue background, white text, showing me the songs i'm playing.
no pictures at all.
Depends on the model of unit. Regardless of what is on the screen when you're using it, if it's not hooked up to the handbrake trigger wire properly, its defectable. If when the handbrake is not engaged your particular unit happens to show track info or whatever, its ok as long as its hooked up properly. If you've bypassed the handbrake lockout function, be prepared to get canary'd.
i got the evil eye from two cops when driving once. i had video clips going (so obviously not allowed)
but luckily they didnt do anything. From what i've heard, it is illegal to have any Video running
but pretty sure that Track Listing is the same as Video. Not 100% sure though.
yup nothing on tv/video/porn etc.. while moving.. onli music from cd or something..
 then what about those Navigations? u gonna look at the screen to be able to get to destination
me confused...
also what about reverse parking camera :D
obviosuly nething that came standard in a car.. like GPS/Nav system.. will be fine
My workmate recently got defected for having the screen on while moving. Copper said that you can have it on while moving IF and ONLY IF the screen is not facing the driver. So it either faces the passenger only OR the people in the back ( screen behind front seat headrest)
It should be fine to only have a track listing but not anything actually playing. My brothers merc plays video when cruising below 5km/h but when over it cuts off and only shows a track listing.
Yes. The GPS/DVD/TV systems that come stock in the cars are able to work while car isQuote:

I believe that pictures on the screen are fine as long as they are considered to be driving aids. Thats why GPS, reversing cameras are fine. TV or DVD is not a driving aid so its not ok.Quote:
