new accord euro owner

Hi Guys

I have a DC 5 integra that is just getting too hard for me to continue to use as a company car ( coilovers etc ) so after much deliberating and different car yards and brands model etc i culled the liost down to the Audi a4 and the accord euro . As i already have a honda that has been extremel reliable ( and there seemed to be issues with reliabi;lity from current audi owners ) i decided to purchase a Graphite honda accord euro luxury auto . The car has been on order for 5 weeks and i expect it will be here in the next few weeks and i am eagerly awaiting its arrival .

My question is this

After reading forums on here and many others in the USA ( TSX forums ) it would seem that these car have had heaps of trouble with everything from rattles to headlights fogging up to centre console lighting turning off . even read quite a few problems about not starting and alrms being faulty .

When i used to ( and still do a bit ) i never read such compaints from the integra owners .. in the 4 yeard i owned my integra i only ever had one warranty issue ( which i had to fight a bit to get fixed ) but other than that the car ran great . I modded this car quite a bit with suspension , exhaust , intake and a fairly big custom sound system ..

The main reason i went with the honda was the way the demo car drove compared to any others i drove in this category and the fact that with honda i knew from past experience that it would be a reliable car that held its value Ok ( at least no worse than any others i have seen and probly a bit beter than most )

Now after reading all of these compliants i am scared that i may not have made w ise decision and i am hoping against all hopes that i dont have alot of the issues that others seem to have .

Please guys make me feel better by telling me what is it that makes yoiu guys feel comfortable ( and able to sleep at night ) with spending you money on this kind of car when there is quite a bit of compettion at thius level out there and quite a few othere car that i ( we ) may have been happier with

I write this as some one who has yet to experience the accord so i may be judging too quickly

well, when something is wrong, people complain, but when everything is going fine, people dont say that, so it might look like the Euro is a faulty car from all the problem posts youve read, but they are in the minority. my euro is fine, i havent had any problems with it, and highly recomend it. since you have done lots of reading, and know about possibile problems, they can be fixed & identified easily.

obviously you have a company car budget, and within yours, the euro is the best buy :)

first of all, welcome to the accord forum and congrats on your purchase

I know that you are scared about purchasing the euro as your first car but dont be. the positives far outweigh the negatives. and these negatives are just "niggling" negatives at that.

im sure you would have read the "what do you hate about the euro" thread...get feedback from there if u wanna check out the cars negative points
i'll tell you what made me get a euro over all other cars (mazda3, subaru liberty)

basically, the other cars just didnt compare with my lifestyle and this car just had it all along with sophistication and overall sexiness and the reliability u get from a honda.
the car looks hell sexy even in stock form and now with the 05 luxury getting the JDM rims is an added bonus. fuel consumption is excellent, engine wise has the same K series engine as the DC5 series so essentially you know you're getting a decent motor, it is a luxurious sports car that wont hurt your budget in terms of purchase and maintenance, its sexy looking, mod wise you can do it up to make it subtly JDM like or go full out pimp and bling/VIP style, its sexy looking, car can be used for general everyday cruising and the occasional spirited run, and did i mention the car is hell sexy looking?

euro mods are becoming more and more mainstream and soon enuff we will have mods that will further enhance the look and performance of this car. it has already been on the markets for 2 years now, with the first batch of euros out back in 2003. it is now approaching 2006 and by then hopefully there will be a lot more parts available for the euro then.

in regards to spending money on the car, you know its a HONDA so u know it has the background of the honda heritage of being a reliable car as well as mod friendly. it also has 4 doors which makes it easy access for people with families/pple who have to lug around a lot of shite

you made an excellent choice purchasing the euro and no doubt, after your first 1000kms service you will enjoy it even more because soon you shall realise just as I have the potential that this car has in terms of both looks and performance. not just a pretty face, my friend ;)

No car is perfect. That's why we have warranties. I think we all tend to nitpick in these forums and focus only issues that we have with our cars. One thing is that most, if not all, of us agree that the Euro is one of the best buys out there.

I just had mine delivered and you may have noticed my post about the windscreen creak. This is just a small matter that should be rectified at the next service. But if you want to know the positives about this car, this is what I think:

- wonderfuly chassis, taut, sharp handling, beautifully balanced but yet with a great ride that irons out irregulaties in the roads with aplomp
- very quiet suspension, all you hear is a well damped and insulated thump over potholes
- excellent noise insulation, except in some coarse chip roads where there is some tyre roar (but not any worse than my Camry)
- excellent interior detailing, great sound system, quality materials, just love the sound of the doors closing - a muffled silent thud!!
- great styling, lovely twin exhausts, and love those door handles
- smooth, quiet and tractable engine that is virtually silent under gentle driving but happy to rev up the redline

You may or may not have some small niggles with your car but I bet you are gonna enjoy it!

Reporters from both Wheels and Motor have said that the euro is a great car. One of the issues with the car they test drove was the space saver spare, that was fixed up with 05 models.

They did a shootout between an audi A4 and a euro luxury (03 or 04 model). Guess which car they liked better? the Euro.

When we were looking to get our car the 3 options were Camry sportivo, Mazda 6 and the Euro lux. Couldnt justify 40+ k for a camry so that was written off. Then it was down to the mazda 6 and the euro luxury. Ended up choosing the euro for many reasons, one being the power over the 6 and also the overall quality just felt higher.

make u sleep easier at night? LOL... i had a problem with that... i just kept on wanting to take the car out n just cruise around in it...

Just recently took some friends to bundeena, when they opened the door and looked inside (we got a 05 Euro lux) they said "omg this thing looks like a merc..." (it was a chick that said that). Another friend wanted to ditch her bf n jump in my car, and her bf has a pretty nice 180sx.


The car is just an absolute joy to drive and own. It can be a "grown up" car when u want it to be and it can also satisfy u when u feel like a sporting drive. Someone on the forum has even tracked the euro!!!

So u can rest assured that u made a bloody fantastic decision in getting the euro lux. :D

After over 40000km and 22 months of driving Euro, despite many new comers to the medium car market after my perchuse. I still enjoy every minute when I am in or near my Euro.

yeah some of my friends have euro...one of the best japanese car I reckon
very comfortable ride and its got the looks inside out
I wish I had one :(

Like others have said you do tend to hear from people when they have a problem and you dont hear the hundreds of others who have had no problems at all. Warranties are there for a reason and if you have an issue then simply take it to your honda dealer and get them to fix it.

Am a new 05 Euro Auto [Pearl White] new owner from Melbourne. Picked it up on Monday [29Aug].

The amount of tips and hints here sure are useful guys! Thanks to all the seniors and regulars for the info. Keep it up as I want to learn and hopefully can contribute in the near future.

2 'stare at my face' problems that my new car has.

1] It seems that when im driving on the freeway the alignment is off and it deviates a lil to the left. We are talking minor steering correction but i will want to get this fixed on my 1k km service. Anyone out there with similar probs?

2] The piece of glass/perspex that separates my vision and the speedo [dunno what its called] has 2 quite obvious scratches. Just 2 thin fine lines. Is it a hassle for them to get that fixed? I mean i dont want them to dismantle my whole dashboard and then find a bolt loose when i take the car back. I can live with those 2 fine lines then.

Any advice mates?

Hi! and congrats on your new car! With regards to the scratches, since it is new, you can get the dealer to fix it. I doubt they will replace the plastic piece though. Do you trust them enough not to make it worse? I have 1 quite obvious scratch, but I live with it.

1. Mine tends to drift a little to the right. I might swap the right rear wheel with the right front and see if it makes any diff.

2. Mine has a few marks that seems to be internal to the perspex. I understand that they scratch easily even from a cotton cloth wipe. I decided it's not worth the risk of having them butchering the dash or having rattles after putting it back.

Just have had and also heard of too many bad experiences.

Less people touching my car the better. How many things can go wrong at 1000km service? Try scratching the paintjob from the 'complimentary' car wash which I never requested nor did they asked if I wanted (My 3.5 year old CRV's paintjob is in better condition and no one else has ever washed it except me. Dropping my tyre pressure , overfilling my oil level by about 5mm.

I wonder what other things I'm not aware of yet.....
