Rear Strut Installation
Can any of the fellow jazzers here tell me what does the installation of a rear strut involve???
I recently got hold of some x-force struts and am wondering whether I have to remove the boot plastic moulds in order to fit the brakets on......And does this bracket screw "over" the exsiting bolt or do I have to remove the suspension bolt and install over that..????
confused???
-
the plastic moulds are really easy to remove
u just bolt it on the existing bolt
-
You're talking about the strut brace right?
If so, just remove the plastic cap things and bolt it on...I personally would be removing the existing nuts first and place the brace over that, but that's me....
-
Yes I am aware that the moulds are easy to remove....How once removed I have trouble fitting them straight in...its almost like I have to remove the entire panel off in order to get the brackets on....
and another thing...dyou mean use the same bolt to screw the bracket in, meaning there is only one bolt for both the strut and sussi....or just bolt "on top" of the existing bolt, meaning there are 2 bolt on the same groove...????
-
i had trouble fitting 1 side in..had to jack up the right side of the car to fit the strut in.
u remove the existing bolt..then put the struts in..and then u bolt them on
-
In which case it isnt necesary to remove the entire panel to fit the anchor points on..???
BTW Im using the XForce strut, and the anchor point is sort of round......and it doesnt quite fit through the panel opening easily...which is pretty much what made me wonder whether I should remove everything.../???
BTW , what size is that bolt...>???
-
it should fit..i'm using XForce struts as well.
if u cant fit it in..jack up ur car..coze this happened to me.
-
huh, but what would jacking ur car up do in terms of making the panel opening bigger???
-
give it a try and u'll know :)

thanks aziansqd....one more thing....is there any difference between the left and right brace point....coz I undid my strut and Im not sure which goes to the left and which goes to the right.....
-
nah..both sides are the same
-
asiansqd....it appears that when I try to loosen the bolt, there is this rubber disc thing which doesnt allows everythjing to move and thus not giving the bolt a chance to grip.....This makes it very hard for me to loosen the bolt.....Help..!!!!!!!
