stroking a d!
hey all,
i have a D16y8 in my vti coupe and im going to eventually turbo it and was wondering if stokin the D16y8 engine to a 1.8 from a 1.6 would produce more power then just the 1.6 turboed?? how much more kw atw would i gain goin from a 1.6 to a 1.8 NA?? other mods to my engine is just the K&N filter with 3' chrome inlet pipe and a 2 1/4" straight through exhaust system.
cheers

1.6L turbo will make more power than 1.8L stroker
stoking will cost a fair bit too
-
how come it wont make more power?
how much will it cost roughly and wats involvd?
-
hard to find stroker kits for the d-series in australia...i think
try abroad - www.d-series.com
-
there is only one stroker kit ive seen for the d. around 2k USD will get u a custom crank pistons and rods. stocked out to 1.8~l. not worth it ;)
-
how much kw would that increase?
-
1.6 turbo will go much faster than a 1.8 NA because it the 1.6 is around 96kw i think.. and if you turbo it you could possibly get from 60-80% more of the power on top depending on how well it's been tuned. 1.8 NA will just make it run well for an NA car but then if you want to keep it NA then it will cost you quite a bit to make it fly. but i guess it's all up to you. what do you like? TURBO or NA?

there was a MUGEN displacement increase kit for the mighty old ZC many years ago - increase to 1.7l - add cams + Mugen ECU gives you 170hp...wonder how much it cost in the day ?
-
whats this MUGEN displacement increase kit for? the d16y8?
-
i think benn is referring to D16A8
-
i see i see.. so how much would that cost?
-
It is discontinued. Stop spamming with irrelevant Q's ok.

BTW , IMO stroking a normal d16y8 would not reap much benefits at all ? Possibly the 1.7 crank will fit for more scope but at what cost ? Its no doubt much cheaper and more effective to wack on a turbo :)
