wat do i need to cover to make sure that it doesnt get wet and screw me engine up any other precautions i need to take
cover anything plastic (eletrical wires, fusebox, etc) the rest is usually ok just dont leave it on the engine bay too long like the actual painted metal. If u wanna do a reallly good job you can take out the engine and grab a toothbrush
mate just did mine last night....i used kerosene (good degreaser) i covered the battery, dizzy and the main wires (the big bunch).....
yeh just sprayed it on and left it for 10mins like it said hosed it but bloody hell there must be some serious grease and oil on me engine it wont eat threw it i see some of it has but only in little blobs...any ideas on how many times i need to reapply it to the engine....ive also tried scrubbing it off...no help lol
cheers guys
Be careful as some strong degreasers can stain/mark the aluminium of your engine block. Brake cleaner is somethign that you could try....just cover all electrical bits and wash the degreaser off :)
yeh so now most of it is coming off but my engine block does look like dogshit...the aluminiunm underneath isnt looking its best can you by any chance paint the engine block..if so wat sort of paint can i use
cheers
Was that as a result of the degreaser or something else ?
not sure to be honest looks like scratches or somethin...but if it was the degreaser i probably couldnt do anythin about it
I use form mag wheel cleaner to clean my engine
Came out like new :D
I recon you should only cover your siren ( if you have one )
just dont spray water directly on your dizzy and altenator.
then blow off the water wioth compressed air.
thats the best way to do it
yeh wif ya compressed air wat can i use im thinkin i can use a bike pump will this work or can ya just go down to a petrol station and use there compression pump for bikes????
all is cool people got off me ass and went into a mechanics shop and blasted me spark plugs there ended up being shit loads of water down there...the mechanic said degreasing engines are in the past????? so yeh advise people to do ti at your own risk plz
