Hey guys, new to this turbo thing so im not to sure about something..
Here is just an example based on gettin the question answerd... cheers
Guy A has an evo or honda or what ever and wants to raise boost, surely its not as easy as just puttin in a boost gauge and a boost tap... what about fuel?? How do u stop ur car from leaning out and then blowing up while raising boost on a stock car with out a full tune???

Usually stock management will try to do it's best to provide safe mixtures via a MAF. Extra boost = extra airflow = higher voltage from maf = ecu pumps more fuel in. That's if it's all on a stock setup. Though if you have aftermarket management it's probably most optimum and safest to get a tune done after turning the boost up.
our cars don't use a maf, they use a map.
With an ecu set up(which you should be using with a turbo... there is absolutely no good reason not to), you can up the boost to however high you have the ecu tuned for. Going higher means the ecu won't provide more fuel.
the stock honda ecu won't worth with boost at all, so that issue still needs to be addressed regardless of if you're going to up the boost or not.

well, it's like anything in life, you push something too hard without the proper support structures and everything, and eventually it will blow up.
it's like building a house, you gotta have a good foundation for your house, otherwise, everything on top of it ends up being a big pile of crap!

Lean mixes can melt things!!! If you have good injectors and a adjustable fuel pressure regulator and if it's a good turbo kit, you will be fine for 1-2 pounds more. But I bet you want to take that stock 8-10 psi and go to say 15-20 psi? You need a engine management system or a VFAC setup. I would not boost the turbo until you are ready to tune the car, and I would do it on a dyno. But that's me.
no, you don't need a vafc set up... increasing fueling for higher boost without any conrol over timing is a VERY bad idea
vafcs are good for one thing... being pretty little gauges
and they do it well!
You would be wrong the Apexi V-AFC is a fuel controller. It doesn't do timming. You can get one that also does the VTEC timing but not any more than that.Quote:

VTEC timing isnt Ignition timing, only camshaft engagement timing.
