Hi,
I just got the Accord Euro 06 with Sat Nav yesterday and have a question on the Sat Nav.
My street is not listed on the DVD. Sad as it seems that the street directory is quite old. I like to add my current home location to the list MY HOME. It shows the current location but doesnt allow me to add this as a point to my home.
Any ideas how I can add this as a point of location to HOME?

I'm not Euro Satnav guru, But i've had my fair share of sat nav either in PDA form, BMW's, Merc's, Toyota's, Volvo's and Rovers (essentialy a BMW system.) Obviously the Street map is stored on the DVD or CD. The GPS unit uses that info. and pin points you on the map. If your near a street then the unit will re position itself to the street. If your not near a street and in the middle of no where, then obviously your unable to make a POI (Point of Intrest) or in your case your house. Not Much that you can do about this but, to wait untill the next map update, and Maps can cost up to $400. (maps usualy done by Whereis (essentialy Sensis)) Hope i helped.
Its sad that they provide a few years ago maps when someone has purchased a 2006 car and then expect us to pay $400 more to buy a new map.
Too bad now I cant point to my home other than a close by street :(
Telstra should be shot for this for providing outdated maps.
Yeah i'm not 100% sure if your map uses the one from where is but majority of maufactures use Where is.
Check Whereis For the most up todate map.
I'm not familiar with the satnav on the 06' Euro. Can you add the point as a POI/Favourite instead? If it fails, just add the corner address of the street just before your turning, so you will at least get to that familiar point before the satnav gives up.
well... as the case for the euro sat nav... u can preset ur home location and there's a quick slector from the main menu to " go home"
but damn raaj, u must be live in the surburb thats just developed Very, and i meant VERY recently... and yeah the only solution is u set a street nearby to be ur home.. or even wait for the update to come out (but i've heard they are fairly costy)
i am not sure whether all the MAP DVD in all euros are all the same...
if u wish u can PM me ur address and maybe i can try to find ur home from our euro sat nav...:D
How is 2001 for a start. Thats when we moved into the area. I had the same problem with my Camry Azura 2003 model which didnt have it either. I finally bookmarked it using the Latitude/Longitude. So its set now. Only that it reads the old street name. Also the software version on the DVD says 2003.
u have to ring up the map people, the contact details will prob be in the DVD case.
Then when the next map comes out it will be updated, this also happens with rrd changes and things like that...they send a person out to check it out...they also told us some times it could be a year and a bit more b4 they update it also....
so its kinda tough luck for now
Yeah I understand all that but 3 or more years out??? Now thats a bit much after someone has paid almost $3K for a GPS unit. I expect it to be at least 1 year old which is fair enough but not to list a street which was in existance since 2001 is too much.
I agree raaj, it's simply not good enough. I'd "voice your unhappiness" with Honda and maybe they can go into bat for you with the map people. You fighting the map people isn't gonna do much, but Honda vs the them might???? Just a thought.
doing that with honda will do nothing as honda is supplying the nav system but not the data for it.......
Its the same with everyone else!
Keep nagging Honda Australia and Map people, you have to let them know you are NOT HAPPY..... Maybe they can give you an updated copy in the future for compensation..
Gee, Can;t believe Honda uses out of date GPS map system, no wonder it is cheaper than other car maker's GPS system...
