Hey guys, i'm looking to buy a 4th Gen prelude. is there any differences between the years? Engine? Power? Interior? extrior?? What the best one to get? i'm guessing obviuosly the latest last model, 96 one right??
Ohh yeah, i'm only concerned about the VTiR Preludes.
i dont think there were really any differences between 94,95,96 model, except that 96VTIR came with OBD II (quote taken from vtirozguy)
the big changes only really occured between 93 and 94 models

Big changes?? what chages are we talking about here?? from 93-94?? and whats OBD II??? I heard the 96 model is the series two in the range with updated dash and interior or something like that... whats the differences???
OBDII is the computer. The earlier models have OBDI, at least the 94 has OBDI, not sure about others.
Change from 93-94 was mainly cosmetic I believe, got rid of the big armrest thing in the middle of the backseat. Others will know more about it than me. I think different colours were offered.
Don't think there were too many changes between 94-96, not really sure though.

there were never any pre 94 vtirs, but there are si-vtec imports from japan.
92-93 prelude interior/exterior looks different to the 94-96 preludes, such as console, lights, features etc.
would the new computer mean a little more power guys??? OBD I & OBD II???
any1 know whats the differences????
I don't think the OBDII makes much difference. I'm not sure but don't people generally prefer OBDI because more aftermarket parts are made to fit it, like vtec controllers, vafc, etc?

This is directly cut from absolute prelude. Hope you find it helpful... its a US history guide but reflects pretty well on aus models.

1992: Far different in appearance from its predecessors, Honda's sporty front-drive coupe was three inches shorter and two inches wider than the 1988-91 design. Two models were available. Base engine was a 135-horsepower 2.2-liter four. The sporty Si carried a new 2.3-liter twin-cam four, rated at 160 horsepower. Either engine may drive a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. New all-electronic 4-wheel steering marked the Si 4WS model. With this setup, rear wheels turn slightly in the same direction as the fronts, to improve cornering and maneuverability. A driver-side airbag was standard on all Preludes, while the Si 4WS added a passenger-side airbag. Antilock braking was standard on the Si, but not available on the S edition.
1993 Honda Prelude: A high-performance VTEC edition joined the lineup, with a 190-horsepower twin-cam version of the 2.2-liter base engine. VTEC Preludes rode larger wheels and tires. Both the VTEC and the Si 4WS had dual airbags.
1994 Honda Prelude: All models got dual airbags, plus a modestly restyled nose and turn-signal lamps. Inside, new vacuum-fluorescent instruments sat behind a smoked dashboard lens.
1995 Honda Prelude: Slow-selling four-wheel steering models were dropped. Otherwise, Preludes were unchanged, except that the base S model gained air conditioning.
1996 Honda Prelude: For its final outing in this form, no change was evident on the Prelude.
The computer change made no difference to horsepower, I'm guessing the maps are the same though computers were changed just to bring the lude in line with hondas production facility.
Not necessarily more power but personally I have driven 3 post 96 OBDII Integra vtir's and 2 pre 96 OBDI vtir's and the OBDII feels sharper with better throttle response. Perhaps a faster processor?Quote:
