difference b/w b18b and b18c blocks?

what are the differences?

are the pistons and crank the same>?

note: - not how its installed.. but the internal workings...

would i have the same compression and realiability as the b18c.

b18c is vtec and was in the vti-r and a variant was in the integra type r.

b18b is non-vtec and only appeared in the GSI integra.

Both make roughly the same torque but vti-r revs higher and makes more horse power.

I meant short block only comparision..
If say i made a lsvtec as oppose to b18c2 block, pr3 head

you want to do lsvtec to a vtec block?

is this wat u mean dan?

say if everything else is the same... one engine is running with b18b block and the other running with b18c block. woudl there be any diff?

As far as I can tell looking at crank specs and things like that the block is the same... except the b18c has the oiling setup for the squirters. So that means different oil passages. But they use the same size crank, bearings, rods and other parts. The parts that go on the ouside, sensors, hoses, etc. might be different.

You are close but just a little off with the cranks and the bearings they are the same size but not as strong as the GSR one's.
B18A-B 89mm stroke (same as B20B) 81mm Bore
B18C 87mm stroke 81mm bore
Blocks are the same as you have said rods and pistons are different between these engines and the boltons there is only minor differences,these are a great engine when using a PR3-P72 Vtec head and commonly known as LS/Vtec engines.

B18C stroke is 87.2mm :D

And the short blocks aren't the same. The B18C has things like a mains girdle and oil squirters.

so confusing now... everyone is giving slight diff info

this makes no sense at all.

LS vtec implies that is using a B18B block. If it was using a B18C block it wouldn't be a LS vtec. "LS" part is cause the engine originally came out of the LS integra which the B18C doesn't.

In both instances you achieve vtec by using either p73 or p72 head.
