hey guys just need some advise.
trying to tap into the door light wire, so when the door opens additional light goes on..
anyone got any idea where this can be foind for the + for the wire.
it aint where the door sensor is, which i initially thought that!
Where is the additional light going to be?
If in the door, then you can take off the inner door panel/cover and tap into the wire that leads down to the original door light.
If the new light is going to be in the cabin somewhere, then you need to tap into the wires than lead into the door near the hinges. But it may be easier to tap into the interior light fuse circuit in the fuse box under the dash if there is a spare/empty fuse connector that activates when the doors are open. Or alternatively you could tap into any other light that turns on such as the one in the roof.
yeh thats what im trying to do
basically put lights where the pedals are right
trying to tap into the wire that the cieling lights use so when doors open it lights up as well!
i tried to use the line from the door sensor on the side panels but i think maybe thats just a sensor coz it didnt work!
any1 got any ideas where the positive (+) line from the cieling line goes to?
The wires are usually routed through black plastic corrugated tubes so what you need to do is dismantle the roof or door light and look at the colour code on the positive wire, then trace the wire into an accessible part in the cabin, such as under the dash (or maybe within one of the B Pillars behind the plastic cover), then open up the plastic tubing and locate the wire with the same colour code, and tap into it. Not sure where the tubing routes through the car though.
If you rip off the plastic covers that hold the carpet in under the front doors, you should see some plastic tubing with wires in them, the wire (colour code) you are looking for may be in there.
yeh done that.
basically there a wire from the pillars for each side right. which goes to under the dash to a connecter.. which it looked like it connected to the signal light switch area.. that got me stumped.
i tried to see if its the wire to use which it wasnt..
so im trying to get the wire from the cieling where the actual light is..
habnt taken my roof out.. so im wondering where that wire from the cieling light goes to
if you know what i mean
why don't you just go from the door light swtich?
Yeh not sure where the roof light routes to. I guess the easiest way is to take off part of the room lining and see where it goes.
Soldering your own wire into the roof light connector and routing it down the middle-right pillar might be the easiest way to do it, unless you can find a wiring diagram for the EG. eBay should have an EG workshop manual that contains wiring diagrams, although sometimes those diagrams only show the circuit, not the car locations of the actual wires.
He has already tried the door sensor, I dont think that's 12v powered is it?Quote:

so thats the ground which grounds the wire?
BUT what if the switch is hit to be ON all the time.
then your other lights will be on
when the interior lights, then your other light turns off as well.
Pretty sure the door sensor is a reversed switch, i.e. its powered/continuous when the door is open, instead of closed. It has nothing to do with the "always On" roof switch.
