DC2 Rims and Tyres

Hi guys.

I was wondering what wheels/tyres you guys have on your DC2s?

I've got the standard 1994 DC2 VTiR 15x6 rims (fat 5 spoke) with 195/55R15 tyres. I'm thinking of upgrading to 16x7 with 215/40R16 (what the the late model JDM Type R had) but I can't seem to find anywhere that does 215/40R16 tyres that aren't fairly expensive. What does everyone here do? Stick with the stock sized rims? go all the way to 17"? Or use something narrower? Like a 205/45R16 tyre?

I know you can get semi slicks in 215/40R16, but this is a day driven VTiR, not a weekender/track Type R. (feel free to put in your 2c about getting semi slicks for 16 or 17inch rims though, allways usefull information to have in one spot).

205/45/16 should be fine for you.

I have been using the yokohamas a539's in 225/40/16 and they are very fat, unecessarily fat. 205/40/16 should be pretty easy to find too as it is a popular sized tyre which most manufacturers make.

from last when iw as looking for tyres, you can get hankook silicas k104's for $125 per tyre in that size and these are a pretty decent tyre.

I'm using 205/40/17 on my vtir running dunlop sp sport maxx's

the best offset of honda integra ( without or less chances to scratch ur roll guard plastic ) is +42....

205/45/16 will make ur integra more flexibility handling during driving or cornering ...

215/40/17 more sexy and can install bigger calipers ( Brembo , Endless etc )

5 spokes makes more sporty ( depend on what u want to make ur car looks like ... ) , plus ez to make ppl catch attension to ur caliper if u install some sexy caliper in future......

nornally , my personal suggest is 16 " and with 5 spokes . good for handling
( the disadvantage of this setup is hard to install a bigger caliper )

But if ur beast is very high power ( turbocharged ) , then u can go for 17" , coz u will need a better braking power....

ive got 204 50 15 inch Azenis semi slicks on my OEM itr rims. Very nice, but they are a bit wide for the rimss, so there is a very slight sloppiness in response on initial turn in, but once it grabs its unfalable...

BUT i would like some 16's, depending on the width, which in that size is usually 7inch, 205's will be fine mate, you wont lose response that way, plus theres a lot more range available

this is what id do, plus 205's will fit perfectly on the JDM ITR rims

Dynosaur, bro i think your a little bit confused, getting 215 tyres wont make it easier to clear different break caliprs, its the width of the rim and more importanttly the offset which will allow this

Plus a larger rolling diameter rim than standard will actually put more strain on your braking system because it takes more effort to stop a circular object of a big diameter and longer circumference.

Having said that, if the total rolling diameter is not much bigger than OEM it wont be a problem

Also, there is no one offset fits all. Final rim location is a function of offset AND rim width, not just offset. So you can take your +42 "best offset" and shove it up your ass :D

Also, there are plenty of excellent braking options for < 17" rims. Stock DC2R rims are 16" last time I checked...

And thirdly, please stop putting forward opinion as fact. I for one definately do not think that 17" rims look more sexy than 16" rims. I don't go for the rubberband tyre look. no re.

I got Kumho SPT 205/45/16 on Buddyclub P1 QF, very happy with this set up and tyres are very good on wet and dry, not too expesive $150 a corner

In the end its your decision. Personally I like to keep the aspect ratio closest to the OEM tyre size so it doesn't put my speedo out.

check out http://www.dsm.org/tools/tiresize.htm if you want to see the recommended sizes which will keep your speedo closest to the stock size.

Also just remember the bigger you go the more expensive the tyres are and the harsher the ride can become.

I wouldn't get semi slicks for the street due to the tread wear...just good street tyres :)

There you go, reinforcing my point even more. If they can fit the brembos under 15" rims that's even better!

Though I swear they came in 16" in the later years... with 205/45/16 tyres...
