If the seals get damaged they leak oil, nothing more, they have no job but to keep oil in and crap out. It's an easy change but you'll have to dop the tranny, clutch and fly wheel to get to the rear seal, and the front one needs the pulleys and timing gear removed along with the dust covers.
^^ agreed
Thanks,
great help people
if the bearing seals leak, where would the engine oil go?
it leaks straight down thru the crank seal and the main rear seal , and onto the ground as a small drip. Slowly but surely it drains ur oil
Won't completely drain your oil though. Obviously, the sump sits lower than the seals so you will probably notice it only losing about 500mL of oil and then stopping the 'leak' as the oil level drops below the oil seals.
Not true. The crank journals are lubricated with oil through passages in the crankshaft. So as long as your oil pump is working, you will end up losing oil eventhough it is below the oil seal.
Anyway, your oil level even at the Maximum dot does not comes near the widest rotating diameter of your crank, and that is much lower than the position of the oil seal.
check under ur car and see how bad its leaking..
