B16a To A B18c ?
I currently have a b16a engine in my crx if i wanted to fit a b18c style engine would it be a straight swap over or would i have to change the b16a engine mounts?
also what type of b18c engines are there and what would be my best $ to kw ratio if i was to go with that option.
The reasopn i am asking this is because i am not sure if i should mod the b16a as i dont know what will give me my best gain in the end.
Or would a turbo be the best for this engine.
Any ideas would be great
Regards John

best kw for the dollar is turbo..
-
yeahh turboing the b16 would make more power then going b18cR...
but if u did wana do a quick, cheap upgrade, just get a b18c bottom end and put that in...
-
How much would a turbo setup cost ?
Would this affect my setup if it is a daily driving car
-
well that depends on if u build your own or buy a kit, and on stock internals i wouldnt run more then 7psi... if its your daily driver, you want it doen properly so its reliable....
all depends on how many ks ur motor has done etc
-
the motor has only done 75,000kms
would $10,000 be enough for turbo setup to make a 13sec car?
-
10,000 is enough to boost you car nice and safe, while running enough to get easy 13's.
-
yeahh i rekon you could hit 12's in a boosted b16a in a CRX lol if done correctly, with suspension and slicks and wieght reduction...
-
My setup has so far been under 10k and i managed a 13.9 on cheap street 14s on 6psi
-
answer to your first question is
no u dont need to change anything just take out the engine and put the new 1 in.
and for bang for bucks turbo. on stock internals like most people say 6-7 psi if u want more power u can take it up to 10psi but you'll be in the danger zone with stock internals
and yes 10K is more than enuff to get u running into 13's easy your more likely looking into 12's with slicks and so forth liike others mentioned

If you going to put a B18 in might as well use the head off your B16 and do a B20 conversion:)

My cousin and uncle both have crx's with b18 type r/b20 frankenstein set ups. First time at the drags, one did high 13's and the other did 13 flat. The one that did 13 flat wasn't lightened yet, and the uncle who was driving the white crx didn't know how to launch properly.
Having said that as my cousin built both the motors - obviously it was money saved in labour. but just consider your options :)
