I feel like an idiot for not having realised earlier - but yeah, the centre console armrest slides forward which makes it a helluva lot more useful as an armrest.

yes it does. lol, that was one of the first things i looked for when i test drove the car, to see if the arm rest moved forward. I like to drive with one hand and the other lazying on the arm rest :p

the major selling point for me was the spring loaded cup holders :P
