Consequences: The transistor may fail due to high temperatures generated when the Instrument panel dimmer light is operative. (However, lower brightness settings generate higher temperatures and accelerate transistor failure). If the transistor fails, the Instrument panel lights may become inoperative and vision of the instrument panel gauges may be impaired when driving at night.
