Hi guys,
i'm looking for some new air filter to be put on my car.. and i stumble accross a big ranges of air filter available on the market. im look for some decent air pods.. with best bang of the value..
tell me which 1 you think the best.. and recomended..
1. Apexi Power Intakes
2. HKS Direct Drive (2 Layers)
3. HKS Super Power (3 Layers)
3. Blitz SUS
4. Greddy/Trust Airinx
5. K&N Filters

I don't recall the magazine number but one of the recent Autosalon mags did a full 4-5 page writeup on airfilters - airflow vs filtration and K&N came out on top followed by a brand you didn't list un your list ... A-something.

sinister.. anyhow could you find out the magazine number? so i might browse to local newspaper :p
dont go foam filters.
foam filters have bad filtering and poor flow.
plus they dont last as long.
k&n FTW
if you need a dry cotton filter go the apexi.
3aracing/simota ones are very good for the price as well.
filter good and good flow.
if you are using it for cold air intake behind the bumper go the k&n.
imho its abit more durable
BTW i got the magazine at home.

Foam Filters must be oiled before use. Alot of people use the HKS filters unoiled and that basically filters nothing.
Oiled they can be sufficient. It also depends on how porous the foam is.
The big cells ones like the HKS filter almost f.all even when oiled.
The Fina Filter ones are generally better.
I just use K&N for the convenience of it all...
No i believe it was the 3A pods that won, or the simota, i forget. But its $30 from repco, it won
why not those mesh type blitz copy for $25 bucks ...high flowing and its neither foam,paper elements, and no oil requirement.
i had this on my skyline and flows max air!! as no restrictions..
now im using a CAI - AC Autotechnic (US MADE) which killed all the famous names like AEM,INJEN,DC Sports, Etc..

AEM dryflow ($100): flow 9th, filtration 3rd
APEXI power intake ($125): flow 7th, filtration 6th
HKS direct drive ($125): flow 6th, filtration 9th
K&N rr-3301 ($125): flow 4th, filtration 1st
REDLINE airforce 1 ($40): flow 2nd, filtration 10th
SIMOTA power stack WE-002 ($29.95): flow 3rd, filtration 5th
TENZO WS002-CH ($19.95): flow 8th, filtration 4th
3A Racing ($28.95): flow 1st, filtration 2nd
TRUST airinx ($120): flow 5th, filtration 7th
no name - trust imitation ($15): flow 10th, filtration 8th
But I honestly don't see air filters by themselves playing a big role in huge gains but only assist alongside other intake mods to HELP in producing slightly better response + efficiency...
does flow of the air filter increase Hp?
i cant believe 3a racing won it LOL !!! 1/2 a price of known brand
i taught its gonna be like Apexi or K&N ...
coz they are tested to perform better than HKS...
any suggestion now? for a turbo intake filter? or wont be any diffrence in power ... 5-6 hp diffrence? might?
coz i've been running my copy pod for 2 years... wanted to change lol :p
Meh, with a near stock engine, airflow makes no big difference, all you get is sound, if it was a Boosted car or a modded engine (Ie Internals etc) Then you'll see differences.
my car is turbo .. not na .. than should i get 3A?? im hella confused now ...
