Hi,

3rd party insurance is part of your vehicles rego and it's compulsory. You mean comprehensive.
The answer to your Qs are: Yes. Yes, just identify the driver at fault and you wont have to pay excess.
I mean third party property damage insurance not the CTP where is required to get with rego. Im in NSW btw
Correct, although it should be considering that some people are silly enough to drive without insurance. IMHO, if you own a car and drive it on the road you should have third party insurance at an absolute minimum (in fact it may even be law to have it - can someone confirm?)
no they dont, in WA and i believe most states the CTP in ur rego is only to cover personal injury in the event of an accident. im happy to be corrected for other states tho.
if the at fault driver has 3rd party property insurance then ud be covered, thats what it for, but if they only have 3rd party then their car wont get repaired.
if u only have 3rd party coverage and u are at fault, then ur insurance company will repair the other car but not urs.
comprehensive insurance is the only coverage that will repair both parties cars.
No. Third Party Property is very different to comprehensive.
Compulsary Third Party - i.e. Greenslip
Third Party Property - you can claim damage to other parties in at fault accidents
Comprehensive - you can claim damage to both parties in at fault accidents, or just you if you get hit by an uninsured party
If you get hit without comprehensive, you want to hope they both; a) at least have third party property and, b) are not an arse hole.
If something like this happens, grab every witness you can straight away, and try to get them to sign something saything they are at fault (assuming they are), because whoever is at fauly will be out of pocket for their own repairs, and the majority of dickheads will try to put the blame on you so make sure you get as much evidence as possible.
If they are uninsured you'll go through HELL getting your car fixed. You'll probably just go through a lesser hell getting it fixed anyway; most of the common insurance companies these days are an absolute joke.
