D.I.Y: Fitting Deep 6' speakers in EK

Aim: To fit those big bulky speakers in you civic EK ( Ghetto Style )
Required: Sharp blade/Knife, lighter, Phillips head screwdriver.
Steps:

1. Firstly remove your door trim. This can be done by removing the screw in the interior door handle, then pull off the outer surrounding of the handle, next take out the screw in the power window mechanism and unclip the part ( if you have a manual winder, get a small flathead screwdriver behind the centre of the handle and wedge the clip off ) take out the screws around the speaker area then pull the door trim up and away from you. ( This is also much easier to do with the window down )

2. Cutting the backing of speaker hole. Now on the back of the door trim u will find that the speaker hole is half covered by plastic that is connected to the door trim, i heated my blade up with a lighter which helped cut through the plastic much better, its not the neatest way of doing this but it does work and u cant see any of it once the door trim is back in place.

3. Putting the door trim back on. For putting the trim back in just follow step 1 in backward order, you will then have your 6' speaker sitting nice and flush and be able to fit the speaker cover on.

I know this is a bit ghetto but its certainly much cheaper than having speaker pods or anything else, it only takes about 20 minutes and any average joe can acomplish this little task :cool:

otehrwise it looks out of place without it

yer i had them on without the covers looked real crap.

i had fun with my EK, i cut off alot more than you did...but i did fit 6.5" speakers

yer mine were actually 6.5's i forgot to edit that, i also had to redrill mounting holes for the screws.

i did the same to my ek, but i cut out the whole section that the white foam(pic4) sits on and had to space the speakers about 3mm to fit without touching trim

i didn't wanna cut anything in my car, so this is what i did.

Pods look really goot mate well done, but i just wanted them to sit nicely behind the stock speakers, plus alot less effort. Looks great though.

out of curiousity guys, how are you running your speaker cables?
i've been running it just hanging out the door trim for a while but decided to try and hide it better but it appears near impossible on the ek, any tips on how to get it hidden?
