i tried nearly all!
BP ultimate gets me the best milage
v-power makes the car feel alot stronger but petrol gets eatin quicker
vortex is kinda ok. (medium)
7-11 ( mobil ) = petrol lasted ages but car barely moved
-
if you flog car alot get ' vpower'
if you baby it get ' bp ultimate or 711 98
BP Ultimate worked the best for me, for all my cars but each to their own lolz
for someone reason everyone will plug BP's fuel as being the best. I honestly cannot tell the difference.
That's cause you drive:
A) Factory tune
B) Too soft =P
I kid
That's what it says , im not sure if I read it right. :)
it is dependent on you state's oil refinery
e.g in melb there are only shell and mobil oil refinery and shell provide petrol for bp
so this means in qld you'll be getting the true bp 98 ultimate as there's a bp oil refinery in qld
Don't BP in melb throw in their own additives and chemicals to whatever shell supplies?
I found that 95 octane gave me the best bang for buck, 98 usually has some anti-knock additives which don't really help 4 cylinder engines afaik.
Curtis the NSW highway patrol cars run E85 (yes they enjoy additional kw's and Nm, up from the 317kw's) as can all the cop cars in NSW, they can tip 98 if they choose. Who told you they were speed limited ????
BP for me !, 730km outta 45L on the highway, recently smashed that record after boosting on a trip down the hume got over 750km. the R18a is one fuel efficient bitch if driven well.
Ahhh I guess I need to download it !
my bro does HP duties in the fastest state and I know 180's is his cruising speed !!
Hey OP,
There was a very good thread on this few months back with alot of information, please use search Button next time.
But ill sum it up for you. Winter is kinda correct in his statement. That there are Certain refinerys which varry state by state. Eg, in QLD BP is the refiner so all the fuels will pass through BP Refinery where they add the additives as required by shell/mobil/Caltex and what not.
But thats not the main issue thats going to determin how good the fuel is when you get it. Cos these companies are very good and strict in what they do.
There are many factors that effect how good is the fuel that you pour into your tank.
How long the fuel as been sitting in the tanks at the petrol station as 98 fuel is highly evaporative this is a major factor "freshness of the fuel"
How old the servo is = more rust in tanks and what not from over the years of operating.
Buying from a well established brand over them lone wolfers
And ofcourse the condition of your car.
Fuel filters are normally over looked in servicing this also plays a big role on the quality of the fuel that gets injected in your motor.
Using additives like ocatane boosters or what not (im against these as i dont see whats the point when you can special order 102RON fuels from alot of outlets)
I guess you may see the picture. My personal Choice is Vpower, in my em1 gets me 350km if i fang the tank away. 550kmish as soon as the light turns on when driven civilised. If no shell in my current location then BP is my next choice as I'm so what a fan of engineering and they have the most advanced refiners in the world :).
My lil brother is currently on Caltex 98 and his seeing very similar KM's on his ej6.
Yes i wrote a bibble i hope this helps you decide where to get fuel from. All the 98 is very similar (has they are all 98 octane change chemically) Just alot of variations that come into play. So dont relay on the forums people saying this is good and what not. As you may realise now the Shell down the road from yours might have fuel thats approx a week old compared to the BP who just got refilled and what not.

Heres a good write up OP.
I get the best from 95ron fuel. Being my car is made for good fuel consumption.
Got just under 700ks out of a tank. City driving.
United for e85
shell i found were good
yup. hybrid over here. flame away. lol
prob get better results if i was runnin the stock rims too.
nah stuff the stock rims, i cant stand them
^^ yup!
even running 18x8 and 18x9 Viennas i get good fuel results.
car looks good... good on petrol... is slow as ****. lol but im old and dont car.
I have used V-Power for the past 10 years with my FTO, and I imagine I will be doing the same now with my EP3 I bought a few days ago.
I appreciate a fine body regardless of make.

I use V-power on my civic fd2 and i average around 485 kms per tank daily driving
ultimate x100
Wouldn't touch anything other than V power

You must be new here.

Lol Seinfeld
has anyone done comparison tests on the fuels here
Man I filled up with shell 98 causei saw the fuel truck at BP and didn't wanna fill up with dregs.
The shell fuel burned faster that a junkies lighter after copping a bundle!!!
Never again.
I found caltex wasn't too bad, but v-power was horrendous, best I've found literally is bp ultimate
Then again this can vary state by state as sometimes the fuel is provided by whom has the local refinery
Has anyone here tired 1/2 tank bp and 1/2 tank shell??
This has worked the best for me to date, 649KM out of the tank. With the usual roads and hitting vtec twice a day.
Bro True Story. Ill Photo document it on the next tank.
photos of sis better
That's hybi levels!
Im telling you guys, I was surprised myself. So i called the people they could've driven my car to ask if they put in extra fuel. No one drove my car last two weeks.
Ill reconfirm experiment with pic's.
Try it!
Go mix your tank bp/shell!
Report back, OZHONDA FUEL Experiment@!
Also worthy to note, i always fill to the ream.
Ive done it, mixed the two. Do not like Shell at all.
btw paid $1.83/L for ultimate last night.
Keep us posted on your results aye. I think we are on to something here.
who knows if you add just a splash of e85 maby you can afford the vtec three times a day
lol
fuel cocktail

the other option of cause is to have your car tuned
My last tank was shell v-power. I got 614km out of 39L. Not bad at all
V power is the worst. I used to stand by it.
Now I either pump ultimate or united 100 octane
Runs so much better and the fuel is more pure
Wow good to know. I've only had my civic for 2 week now and before that was a company car with a fuel card :p
Ill have to try ultimate next tank
It all comes down to personal preference. No one could ever tell you what fuel to use. Just try them all a couple fills each :)
i just got a great run out of a tank on 95BPron.
v power wasnt that great for me, didn't get a lot out of it
Hi guys.
I've only just purchased a manual 06 vti 1.8 for the missus and was extremely surprised on the fuel economy, we picked it up and drove it 405km home and it only used 25.59ltrs = 6.32l per 100km. And we also did 150km city driving for 10ltrs = 6.67 per 100km.
Is this about normal ?
Yeah
5char
Are people's opinions still the same on this in 2016? I've always preferred V-Power as I feel it gives my engine the greatest response, especially when driving hard. Always thought it was a superior fuel to BP Ultimate 98. Generally better priced too (in Sydney at least).
I always use BP, tried shell once my necessity in my wife's car and there was a lot of water in it. Never again
I've always used 7/11 fuel, never had ping always had pong noise
That's cause u a sht knt and fill up wrong.
Ntsrs
But that is interesting, here in quality Canberra town they send us the gud BP I guess.
Pictures of ping from bot and pictures of pong from ren required for confermation
I personally would Like to explore the flex fuel option dispite there only being one servo in Canberra that has e85
Oi nah ur cars a sht car m8
