That breather valve on the valve cover is a 2 way system - air goes in at low rpm's to cool the valvetrain and pushes air out under pressure.
Normally the blow back goes back into the intake arm,it is done this way for emissions.
There is no need for it to do that and I believe it's extra 'energy' that is not needed.
By running the hose into a vented catchcan,the air can go in and can vent out under pressure no worries.
My only concern was air will not be easily going in to cool the valvetrain at low rpm without that pressure behind it BUT it is not a problem,my engine does not heat up,the set up works fine.
