anyone got any thoughts on what has more 'upgrade potential'?, the K24 or K20a. basically i want to achieve minimum 0-100 and high top speed. considering at the moment without any engine work whatsoever i can get up to 216kph on the highway. have not tested on a dyno. but the highway near my house is verry long and verrry straight. at 216 it just wouldnt go up anymore.
In your post, please say for or against either engine and why :).
i rkn get the k24z3 (the one from the cu2). if you are going to do a k20a conversion then youre just pretty much mimicking the fd2r, but if you were to do a k24, then it would just totally be a different car. the cu2 k24 produces less power than a jdm k20a though but it will have more torque.
also you wont have to change your oem tacho since it red lines at 7,100 and even if you tune it to 8,000 rpm, the rev range would still be on the tacho :p
thats my opinion though
sidenote. i am getting the fd2r cluster sets for the dash. so it will show at 9krpm, if i get up to it :p
its a auto~~~ auto Mugen RR~~~
actually when the engine gets put in i am also getting a tiptronic gearbox. so yeah......like i said, it's a big project :p
man, may aswell convert to manual lol
yeah, i dunno about that........ its a really hard choice. well guys, i have some great news. i have secured the wreck of an 07 AUDM civic type r reallly cheap. gonna strip this and put in the 4 door, the only part of the car that was damaged is the front bumper. engine bay is perfect, seats are perfect, steering wheel, everything. only problem is, it's the K20z. anyone not like these? abit lower horsepower, but still lots of potential
k20Z4 i think it is..
and it's great! lots of potential!
will there be any legal issues when trying to put in an 07 built engine into an 09 car (as urs is, nathan)?
lol uh o spagettio
as far as i am aware, this should not be too much trouble at all. the engine bays on the type r's are actually a tad smaller than the standard civic, i'm sure it will take abit of work granted. but i am gonna say entirely possible
