I just polished my car using Megs.fine cut cleaner no.2 with a random orbital then finished it off with NXT Gen 2 wax as well.I get up to 6 mths. before i need to reapply wax.Admittedly my car is garaged most of the time as i work from home 3 days a week.It looks great now.

Hi Joystick,

The key is a standard type. Pretty sure the standard has Halogen lights, the Luxury has HID's.

If you go for the Luxury the spare is a space saver.

Having the sapce saver spare is part of the reason why I'm thinking about buying the luxury (among other things as well) over the standard model.

If you don't mind me asking Sludge, how much was the real spoiler?

It is a gimmick mate. They just use a paint sealant. You have to get a 'check up' which costs you lots of money to keep your 'warranty'. At this time, they just re-apply the sealant. :zip:

hi type R, they told me with the x-pack nano tech thingy I dont need to come back to do any check up for a lifetime...

but I think I will pass on this and try to clean and protect it myself. The thing is Im such a noob on detailing/protecting car so do you have any place you suggest that can do all this on a reasonable price?

As for the CL9, the CU2 Standard has halogen headlights with projector lenses. The Luxury has HID with projector lenses.

You Tube is a good starting point, search clay bar, polishing, waxing, detailing.....etc

Ok as a detailer with quite a few Pro-detailer mates...I would like to add about the paint protection...

Its crap, its merely a low end sealant bought in bulk, applied without the proper prep and the guarantee for a lifetime is a joke, read the fine print where it says it must be re-applied at YOUR expense. The sealant certainly does not last the specified time and in fact leaving it so long will actually in the long term cause more harm than good. Most of my detailing products come from Germany or the States and I am yet to see a sealant work without fault for over 6 months unless the car sits in the garage and does not venture outside in the elements...

By the time you go and buy decent detailing stuff, not Meguiars...sorry gys not a fan, you can spend half the amount, and have a better looking car with paint in a better condition.

The dealers are banking on the fact that the smallest percentage of people actually keep their cars for a "lifetime"...

As a side note, there is only a need to clay bar when the paint is rough, there is no need to do it all the time. A decent sealant, will assist in lengthening the time between clay barring. If you also own a dark coloured car it will always be hard to reduce swirls, however, improper polishing and waxing by hand can actually speed up this process, especially if people use "old towels" for polishing and wax removal thus marring the paint surface.

Please don't take this as self promotion, but the link here shows what can happen with improper washing (Black Evo) and improper hand polishing (prev page Red Challenger)

Hey guys..........we just bought a black-09 spec lux manual for $42K incl GST drive away.

can't wait to pick it up early March.

Car didn't feel as fast or handled as well as the VW tiguan but for options and comfort the CU came out tops.

Could i get some opinions please. I have just rang Waxit.com.au to seek recommendations. I do not use a Buffing Machine, everything is done by hand. Their recomendation is:-
Step 1 - Clay Bar
Step 2 - Pinnicle Swirl Remover
step 3 - Duragloss Polish Bonding Agent #601
step 4 - Duragloss CCP #111 Sealant

The last 3 steps need to be repeated every 3 to 5 months. Clay Bar every 12 to 18 months.

I have been using Meguiars for many years, but it seems that it is not the best way to go these days.
