Theres one on carsales....heap cheap IMO!
how much??
cheapest is $23.5k...........
He's in perth mate :)
pretty cheap, my should be around that price as well, and yeah im in perth
I was about to say that too :)
Alot of positives from buying within Aus! One is you can see before you buy and no freting on if you bought a lemon. Its complied and no wait.
Costs nothing to fly over inspect and transport it over. Especially if it is what you want! Why wait and pay the same price for one in Japan??
i fitted a j's racing engine damper today....thought i would give that a shot. I must say i was doubtful about it but it does work. On it's softest setting it's as if it isn't there but anywhere from 50% stiffness and higher it works, you do get more vibration when taking off with it but it's something you have to deal with by having one.
I have it on about 80% now but will try turning it right up to see how that is then a bit of trial and error is in order for what i can deal with day to day.
Well my may be a bit cheaper plus the guy that's importing has good record and also a mehanical shop set up in japan where they check every car they import (they make shure it's all good), also car should be grade 4+ which is hard to find with lots of car dealships, there is one in perth for sale and they are asking $29900 for same specs I want and it's prob grade 3 by the way it looks (lots of dents, scraches and dameged interior plastic), i don't care about wait period because I'll be away for next 5 weeks (going to europe) and than probably another 4 weeks away for work so yeah, makes no difference if i get it now or in two months
^ fair enough mate. it's not hard to find grade 4 B or better at japan auctions.
sorry for noob question boys and girls but installing a engine damper help besides the fact it helps put less stress on ur engine mounts ??
Putting an engine torque damper will increase more stress to one of the mounts as it focuses on the corner.
If you want to have less engien movement then stiffer engine mounts or inserts will do a better job.
Stock mounts are terrible
I've only seen it for DC5R from 5Zigen.
Haven't seen one for EP3.
But as I said, the aftermarket mounts will do a better job.
what are some reputable brands when it comes to mounts/inserts.
and which are better? taking price into consideration and the mostly street factor.
ooo so engine dampers would work well with some good innovative mounts ??
thanks for feedback aswell guys
If you get stiffer mounts you dont need the ETD.
I ditched mine as soon as i got stiffer mounts.
i got the ETD as a stop gap till i get stiffer mounts. Just came back from a drive with it on stiffest setting and the whole car was vibrating, even the roof light was cruising along at 60 in 5th. Just turned it back to about 80% or so but will have to mess around with it to see what is best.
how do they feel?
are they these?

dam are them inserts worth getting ?? is the vibration really that bad di ?? i might purchase them aswell as the dohc shifter bushes to see how they go.
also how much engine mounts on the k20a ?? if i get these inserts will they b for all the mounts ??
also here is some cool info on these mounts

Malenic1981, what broker you going through? Fabcar?
Blacksun Imports, brokers name is Nigel
Cheers!
Mounts from spoon an innovative are over $500 new. The energy suspension inserts are good and come for the front and rear mounts only from memory.
About the Torque dampners, they complement aftermarket mounts as they still absorb alot of the twist so that the engine mounts dont cop it all.
also steve, i dont think they have dohc shifter bushings for the ep3
Anyone going to the monthly meet?
ditto...
you only really notice it when you're idle...and by now i'm so used to it i don't notice it anymore...
here are some pics of them installed:

Depends which Innovative mounts you go for.
the Steel replacement ones are around teh $400 odd mark.
Where as the Aluminium CNC'd Billet ones are around teh $500.
Inserts are good, but Some people say they lose their firmness quicker compared to mount replacements.
vibrations for the mounts depends on which stiffness you get, it ranges from 60-90a I think.
I have 75a and its like a massive vibrator.
But I dont get wheel hops as much the car chirps rather than hops on the road to get grip.
Also giving it gas around the corners is alot better, it doesnt jerk as much now.
Spoon doesn't do mounts for EP3.
is Mugen engine mounts good?
do we need all 4 mounts or 3 will do?
thanks
Nepolian, that's the thing i am not sure about, some one said to me once that Mugen mounts are more so OEM replacement as opposed to upgrade. Having said that i use the car as a daily with the odd bit of track work so im thinking Mugen mounts with ETD should be good middle ground, sounds reasonable?
Mugen mounts is pretty much stock mounts with more silicon in it to fill it up.
Alot of people I know who have used it found it to not be as stiff as they wanted.
You are better off for a similar price getting the Innovative Street mounts or Avid racing ones.
As they are a whole new mount replacement design and not just stock filled up with some silicon.
You may as well put some urethane in you stock ones and give that a go. Mugen ones have something like different angles or some sh#t. Im sure it would be better than stock though.
Innovative for my money. Having said that, light track work you may get away with the ETD.
Just give it a go, everyones different!
the only thing is that i don't want a lot of vibrations with the stiffer mounts, i guess one of the innovative mounts more so for the street than the really stiff ones, the 60A or the 75A i guess.
I know been covered before but will all k-series ones fit ep3 or which one do i go for? Is it worth going for 60A or is it only worth going for the 75A if upgrading? I saw a huge thread all about engine mounts for k20 a couple of days ago but can't find it now.
thanks for the help
just purchased the toda exhaust system 2day so once it arrives it will be put straight onto my car and ill provide the gains :D i cant wait ! ! !
full or catback?
sai_ANN
how long did it take to install the inserts?
took a while actually...mainly coz you have to take off the header to get to the rear mount...maybe 1 hour or so? (i didn't do it though... :p)
take off the header?!?!
lol fcuk
apparently the fronts even harder. i heard the best way is to drop the subframe.
I see a black EP3 in Fairfield, Sydney everyday at around 3 PM (on sackville street)
is it anyone on the forum?
No guys, no!...You do not need to take the manifold or the sub frame out!
Only need to do some fancy fiddling to get the rear out. The front one will require a little patience and drivers side mount to be unbolted.
time for a meet!
*shrugs*
no idea...my mechanic had to take apart the header to get at it... :p but yes...the front one is a bit of a tight fit...
hmm...i saw a white 02 ep3 when i was passing through an intersection (not gonna say where)....was that you?
i'm keen...just need a bit of notice... :) my weekends are pretty busy...
yeah di that was most probably me. I actually parked right beside u at this place and then had to shoot off because i forgot something then when i came back u were gone. AutoEconcept a trader on this forum can get them. Cheap too but longish wait.!
who stocks the M&M honda
Im sure no one in Oz do it. Have to order it from nengun or perfect run. Im sure it'll cost a pretty dollar too :(
The general meets are good for newbies to meet the regulars. Always good to put face to names.
With my experience, less than half the people show up for forum meets. Therfore making an EP3 a 2-3 cars at best given that theres about 8 of us.
Hate to sound like a wet blanket all the time as I would too love to meet up with fellow owners.
I'll make the first suggestion of Saturday the 16th of August! Plenty of notice for everyone. See how we go from there and if its worthwhile, I'll attempt to organise a proper thread.
My suggestion would be a nice short half day drive?
you Sydney guys are complaining....if i organise a meet in Perth i will be the only one who turns up, well there are only 2 in W.A and some random owns the other ha ha
