very cool man hey
Hi All,
I have a 1991 DA9 Integra with a B16A, complete with the JDM wiring looms, and I believe, a OBD1 ECU, can anyone tell me where the plug is that needs to be shorted so that I can check/adjust the timing? it's never been done since my conversion, and I just want to check.
Thanks
Tseesinn

turn ur volume down before u start playing it...
its very slow..still haven't got the car set up the way i wanted it yet...hopefully by december it will be fully ready...
man that exhaust and raspy.
sounds kool tho
tseesin what timing are u talking about??? ignition??? or cam? both of these can be done with either the timing marks on the pulleys or with the dizzy and a timing light....
the only timing controlled by the ecu is ignition timing... and the advance for the ignition..
but the plugs r under the glove box.
the ecu is under the carpet on the same side.
a bit of constructive critism on the laps.. u shouldnt back off the throttle on and off mid way around a corner dnt let the throttle on til u know u wont have to get back off it....
just somethin to think about
Hey A-Man, was talking about the ignition timing, but ECU-Man has answered it i think, I just wanted to check my ignition timing is where it should be.
Cheers, Tseesinn
Spoon DA9R, congrats on getting out for some track fun, the car looks and sounds great
guys what do you thinkg about reseting springs? im thinking of resetting(compress) my king springs lows (rears)cause i just called up a place($60 bucks for rears) and they said its not such a good idea because its FWD. What do you all think?
how much r new ones??? i dont think theres anything wrong with it.. is that 60 bucks removed reset and then refitted? thats not a bad price but i thought a set of springs were only a little more then that fitted... i know the tyre places around in perth charge around 300 350 for new springs.... and fitted
oh nah ive already got king spring lows in my car but im not to happy with my rear height. Thats $60 for me to take out my rear springs and to hand it over the the guys and then they reset the spring rate or whatever they do. If they took it out reset it etc and done it again it would be around 120ish
plug you were looking for is the gray plug near the heater blower its got a grreen and white wire and a brown wire.
if you car is a genuine xsi it should be obd0 (look for the pr3 code on the ecu)
the only 1st gen b16a in the integra was the b17a which only the americans had. that motor was obd1, but even then that was pretty rare.

it really needs a good clean sorry about phone pics
got a quick one for you guys...
need new brake pads (front and rear), im looking at the bendix range, ultimate for rear and heavy duty for the front.
im not quite in the know when it comes to brake pads... has anyone tried any that they would recomend?
keep in mind the car is driven normally most of the time with the occassional spirited run every now and then.
what spark plugs do people recomend and spark plug leads?
ngk... they do alright
i got bendix and i dont look back
very good pads done a track day in em and there not badly priced...
when i buy new ones im gonna get the ones off ebay.. (check them out cross drilled and slotted brembo rotors with pbr pads) for 280 bucks
each to there own just seems cheap for me
im using iridium plugs and i got cheap 10.2mm leads off ebay
otherwise factory honda ones r good to.
the reason i buy things like 10.2mm leads and shit is that its cheaper from the states, i got msd external coil so its a little stronger aswell.. the plugs were because im lazy... thats all otherwise id use honda ones
are iridium much better, people say they are? and wats the stock leads in mm's? i to am thinken of getten the msd kit but not sure if i really need it.
im not sure if this is correct, but dont the irridium have a shorter life span?
anyone else on the brake pads?
ive got bendix General CT's up front they can slow the car down fairly quick but the downside is that bloody to much brake dust but never the less safety first i guess haha and yeah id recommend going with bendix
sounds like bendix are the way to go...
has anyone tried the heavy duty or ultimate varients?
A-man... have you got a link to the ebay items?
yeh ill find the link
i think stock leads r bout 6mm... but i cant member off the top of my head i know when i put em on i went FARK there huge u know...
nah iridiums r good for 100,000kms stock spark plugs r only good for 10-20,000kms
i didnt get any diff from the iriduims but like i said im lazy.. (must b coz im a mechanic or somethin :P)
ill grab the link now... its up to u i find my bendix pads r alrite with brake dust but i only had em on for a few months and i kept the car clean even if it dnt look like it atm :P
so all in all where and how much are the iridium spark plugs i need, and the leads ebay u recon? i think thats what will fix my lil problem.
will these do?
Spark plugs:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-...=p4506.c0.m245
Leads (blue or red ones?):
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-...=p4506.c0.m245
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-...=p4506.c0.m245
yes they will fit.
i duno if its worth upgrading the lead size but its cheaper then honda ones so y wouldnt u
whats the problem??? idle?
did u clean out the iac valve???
to be honest..couldnt be ****ed:P i will find a day to take it all apart though lol which actual part am i taking off can u show a pic of it circled? also just like wen i put the foot downit lags like it goes then sorta doesnt go then gooes kinda thing, hard to explain, like it goes then lags then goes if u no wat i mean i think it is the spark plugs cause i havent changed them over for a while, plus the other day i put the foot down it wen then basicallyt lost power for a second then went......
how much? and whats a good one for a decent price also where from haha? cheers mate...ill get both sparks, leads and fuel filter..
yeh nah its not the fuel filter ive done mine.... it still does it to...
its jsut on the back of the manifold... u should look it up... its on my other computer a full layout of it all. tere a pain on the tegs u need a weird size allen key
but do the filter to... its worth doing i got my fuel ecconmy bak from doin it...
my mate got 10hp gain from a blocked filter lol on a supra :P
so what is it im looking up?
iac valve
cheers dude, also how much is a replacement honda fuel filter or is an autobarn one or whatever alright?
found this for others who want to do the iac valve like me
http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1575913&page=1
correct me if thats the wrong thing aman..
also waht did you use to clean it? cheers mate
carby/ throttle body cleaner.
hey, will a h4 HID kit fit our headlights? i think someone fitted a h4 bulb and said it worked.
is this right?
yeh i had h4 bulbs the bracket thing u clip over the globes to hold them in place wont work though, but they still worked!
We use H4H bulbs, similar to the H4 only 2 of the 3 arms are smaller.
but the H4 still work :P
Got it off, sprayed it, lost gasket! GRR!
car all done, gasket found!
H4 will work... i put them in a couple of yrs ago, but i had to modify the head light casing to allow them to fit correctly. ill c if i can dig up sum old pics of the results. pm me if u want them
yeh thats all good man u should make sure the valve will move in the housing... but thats a good site the one i was thinking to
do HID produce heat??? if so u may wana make sure if h4 and h4h arnt to close to the lens because it may melt it
i know for a fact the vt commodores with the aftermarket headlights u can melt them if u dont have them aligned properly
wicked-for the HID question, now to a more serious one!
how can i clean my oil sump if it somehow got water in it while off the engine?
will straight degreaser and elbow grease work or will the water just evaporate with the heat from the oil while the engine is running?
im not talking alot of water but maybe a 1/2 cup max?
can u get a robowash???
coz it heats em up to 80 degrees and then itll dry up....
coz otherwise its not alot of water... just empty it then put it on....
its not a huge problem the water will evaporate and leave out ur pcv anyways... its not aot of water...
my celica like u wanted pics before
http://aaron.iconiancds.com/pictures/painted.jpg
fresh out the paint shop
http://aaron.iconiancds.com/pictures/celica-edit.jpg
at the park around the corner
got heaps more but my comp playin up ill show u later
dump it
wicked!!!!!!
I'll pay that, great looking car. Leave it that height, looks like a great daily driver.
nah its not i just havent had time to lower it... the shocks r stuffed to so its not the best handling car either
damn A-Man thats a clean ride congrats
I wouldn't have expected it to handle well even with good shocks. RWD does not mean good handling, it means the power drives the rear wheels lol
i never said it would handle better.. but stuffed v good shocks is a big difference... plus the car has wider then stock tyres..
For those that know me, I have been talking about this for 3 years, finally some action..
New parts from the US and here-
Attachment 10133
Turbo installed, had to slightly trim the block but it got in there beautifully. Dont mind my leaking cam cap, got a replacement, just gotta fit it!
Attachment 10136
Oil return, nice and short, and straight too.
Attachment 10137
The install is complete now, but I don't have any pics of the completed setup yet.
Thanks to the guys down at Performance Exhaust at Northmead for a beautiful job and in a short timeframe too. your efforts are much appreciated guys!
Car is currently getting the fuelling and management side of things sorted out and we will be ready to go!
where did the parts come from who in the states? from spoolin?
i love it u get to keep a/c except if it was me i wouldve used my intercooler... but each to there own hey
love the gauges i wanted to do that to mine but i couldnt get the din the right size to fit... u get that none the less very good man what size exhaust have u got????
i could only fit a 2inch til the sump then 2.5 inch
manifold is second hand bought here, for the life of me I cant remember who makes it. Turbo is locally sourced GT2860RS all the little bits and pieces ate from ATP Turbo.
Your intercooler is a nice setup, but I didn't want to fluff around with the radiator etc.
DIN panel is just a metal item from Just Jap, had to trim the metal sleeve that the radio fits into and shaved a bit of the plastic at the top and bottom of the hole it all fits into. not too much of a hassle and it fits nicely. Gauges are 52mm (I think) not the more common 60mm.
After the cat at the moment I am running 2.25 to the muffler with twin 2" outlets. I want to change the bodykit so will do all this to 2.5" then.
BTW on the air con fan in our cars, the smaller one on the passenger side, which is the positive wire and wich is negative? I would assume blue is positive, but assuming can make a mess sometimes... Can someone check it for me? I can't access the car at the moment to do it myself.
hey does anyone here have a white da with side skirts, lip and rear skirts, altezza lights and very clean?? was down on beach road blackrock today???
it doesnt matter.. because the windings in the fan will determine the direction not the polarity of the wires but easiest way to check is check continuety between both of them...
so connect one to the car body or neg terminal and one to the wire, then if u get continuety then thats the negitive... u can double check this by doin the same but change it to volts and one will give u volts the other wont..
otherwise tmrw ill check for u the wiring.. and let u know
hey guys what type of HID kits do you have in your DA's without changing the headlight housing etc? if there is any
FUKKKK GUYS ive had LO n SXC car all along and i just found out today!!!!! :D
