Thanks for the replies black8thgen, curtis and duffy!
So what you guys are saying is, the koni/gc is much better value, but if I want to go for the stanced look and avoid scrubbing everywhere, I'm going to need coils with a higher spring rate?

For street use, koni/gc is sufficient and cost-effective. If you are looking to go down the coil route, invest in something with good adjustability and choose a good spring rate.
Have you got a set of rims in mind or already put on at the moment?
Can someone please confirm if the koni/gc setup will be able to lower my car to the ride height that I'm after (ie. 10cm off ground)?
Nah haven't gotten wheels yet, still saving and looking. Probably get a set shortly after I lower. Love to have a set of Used silver BBS LMs or SSR Type Fs (like that red CTR a page back). Haven't decided yet if I should go for 17x9 or 18x9 though. Not sure how bad the ride will be xD
Btw do you have any recommendations for coilovers? I've read that TEIN SS or Buddyclub N+ are good ones for the FD.
Just get coils man. Once you go low, you want more and more low :P
another one to look at is those 'function and form' coils, i've heard some good things
Buddyclub N+ ride very nicely and will certainly get you as low as you want. And have reasonable spring rates with height and damper adjustability.
I personally am trying to go the other way. The TypeR is WAAAYYY to hard for daily driving factory. So they are the track suspension and I am looking for some smooth and slightly lower daily suspension.
The guys on the US forum (8thcivic) have nothing negative to say about the Buddyclubs, but I've read a few more "enthusiast" comments say there is better that can be bought in the same price bracket.
But if and when I do buy coilovers, they'll definitely be a set of Buddyclubs :-P
bc racing br series have had good feedback
