B P Australia changed the standard fuel from 93 to 91. I noticed an immediate increase in my fuel consumption. My son was working at BP at the time and confirmed the change. I have tried the 95 and the 98 octane and the 98 gave the better economy. The 95 made little difference and was a waste of money. However, the cost per km was not worth the change, so I satyed with the 91 octane.
i've never noticed any difference in milage, but 98RON feels better

this thread doesnt look good for me. We do alot of shortish trips, usually 60km streets or less. getting 9.3lts / 100km which is bad. always running 98 from BP. i can confirm however an average of 6 lts / 100km and less on freeway driving. No thrashing what so ever.

if you can afford it 98 is cleaner burning and usually runs smoother in all cars i've had.
I've noted that with the 2003 up models i got no increase milage, but the cars had more kick in them(3 hondas).
In my pre 2003 models i did notice a difference in milage(about 4 hondas).
I've been through quite a few hondas in my time.
i know my lude pings under 98....
